Nine police officers have been arrested by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) in connection with a May shooting incident in Pinetown. The officers reportedly pulled over a local businessman on the M13 and opened fire while he was still in his vehicle. The businessman escaped uninjured as his vehicle was bullet-proof. According to Percept, a Cape Town-based consulting firm, nearly 5.6 million South Africans were living with diabetes in 2019, with projections indicating this number could rise to 8.75 million by 2040. The two leaders will use this opportunity to review the bilateral relationship between their countries. They will also discuss regional mutual interests, including the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and the broader efforts to resolve conflicts across the continent. The Hawks In Ventersdorp, in the North West province, have arrested a school principal and an education department circuit manager for allegedly selling teaching positions for R15,000 each. The two were arrested following an investigation into allegations of corruption in the appointment teachers in Ventersdorp and surrounding areas.
