“Flow State ” - Jean-Philippe Interview

View descriptionShare

Join me for a whimsical conversation with retired professional athlete Jean-Philippe, who has founded several athletic companies and has a background in corporate business. Deeply philosophical, and able to connect moving his body with spirituality, we talk about nature, the disconnection in today’s society, and of course, how to lose yourself on the slopes.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How can we embody empathy, appreciation, and see all of what happens to us in the world as working for our benefit?
  • We need to separate from the true survival challenges we faced in the beginning of human civilization and that we somehow downloaded into modern times. It is a lack of self esteem on the individual and collective levels.
  • We can never fully understand or grasp or see the truth because it is always perceived by imperfect people.
  • Allow yourself to be surprised by the new things you find about yourself.

BEST MOMENTS

  • “I was in a flow state for two and a half hours….it had been two and a half hours of perfect curves; I had this core, intimate experience of “being skiing” – it felt like I wasn’t there. I was the curve, I was the movement.”
  • “Why am I being triggered, and what am I learning about myself? Which means, what is my relationship to – others?”
  • “I’m fully and over-simplifying, but if you see people that are colder and more shut down…they aren’t dancing as much…they trade for material safety, it might be a part of this collective process we are in.”
  • “It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy in that we have a planet and an ecosystem that provides enough for everything we need. And because we believe it doesn’t, we're creating a life pattern where soon we won’t have enough.”
