She found a great therapist and it inspired her to wanting to get a PHD herself. She went to college and was a psychology major. After speaking with a friend, she then discovered she didn’t understand humanity and its existence and felt she could do more so started to go into medicine. After starting pre-med she visited as naturopathic school and figured out this is exactly what she should be doing with her life.

It’s so easy to just believe what you have always believed in without challenging it. But challenging these beliefs, especially self-limiting ones, are how you can move to the next stage of your life, to get to a place where you can be truly and authentically you.


We all learn differently and we also learn from different sources in a multitude of ways. Discovering how you learn and what works for you is another key way to tap into self-exploration.


When first starting out as a doctor, Serena realised that the medical world is full of specialties and people often need something to ‘latch onto’ before deciding on a Dr. This is why she started to focus on weight and hormones. This was also when she decided to share her own journey and story and found that people were very receptive to this and started to share theirs with her too.


In other cultures, they don’t see their patients as ‘victims’. They recognise that there are things going on and then it is their job to figure out how to get them back into balance. Western medicine could learn from this approach.
