Film 101 is a film criticism and reviews podcast that looks at all of the newest releases and covers the biggest hits, misses and awards buzz. Film 101 also interviews cinema practitioners and covers wider news in the world of cinema

We started with a holiday seasonal that recapped 2018 in film (including awards talk, winners and losers).

We then had our first official season that ran for 10 episodes and looked at the newest releases on a weekly basis and had broader film discussion. Also, we have been renewed for our second season which ran from October through to December pf 2019.

We are currently work-shopping different ideas for the show and new directions to take it. More content will be on the way in the near future.

Season 1 Episode 5

Arnie spoke to film Director Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Neighbors, The Five Year Engagement) about his latest rom-com Bros, starring Billy Eichner and Luke Macfarlane.

The film is Billy’s first major leading role, he’s the first openly gay man to co-write and star in his own major studio film, it’s the first romantic comedy from a major studio about two gay men, and it’s also the first studio film in history with an entirely LGBTQ+ principal cast.

Arnie, Darcy, and Tom return after a long hiatus to indulge in some film talk and discuss our favourite films from the first half of 2021 among other things. 

This was our first recording in over a year and we tried to adjust to a home environment, though there were some unexpected technical challenges we faced.

This is also Tom’s second to last show with us at Film 101 given that he can only make two guest appearances now due to SYN's age guidelines, though he will return in some capacity in the near future in future projects with Arnie and Darcy.
