A friend starts telling you a story you’ve already heard, and it’s a long one. Do you speak up, or smile and let her finish? Amy and Kat debate what to do in that awkward moment, then share a simple gossip check-in Amy did with her son, Stevenson. Is what you’re about to say true, kind, and necessary? Turns out the guide might be even more helpful for adults.

Plus, a little dating life talk, your sweet feedback on the episodes with Chase, a quick newsletter update for those who’ve been missing it, and a voicemail from a listener in corporate sales who pushes back on our over-apologizing episode. Her take? Authority plus humility equals strength, and sometimes a simple “I’m sorry” means more than a “thank you.”

Here is the EXACT Gossip Check-In That Amy Did With Stevenson:

→ Is what I’m about to say true, kind, and necessary?

→ Why am I sharing this? Am I trying to feel connected, fit in, or get a reaction?

→ How would I feel if it were about me? Would I want someone else to say this about me?

→ Is this getting someone help? If someone is unsafe, tell a trusted adult instead of gossiping.

→ Am I sharing to entertain or judge? If to make someone look bad or get attention, it’s gossip.

Feeling Things with Amy & Kat is a podcast for anyone who’s ever had feelings—or wants to. Hosted by Amy Brown and therapist Kat Van Buren, this is a space where nothing is off-limits. From deep reflections on childhood to pop culture obsessions to what’s happening in the world, all feelings deserve a seat at the table—big, small, awkward, joyful, confusing, and everything in between. At its core, it’s real friends having real conversations about real feelings. Some episodes go deep, some stay light, but all are rooted in curiosity, honesty, and connection. In a world that moves fast, sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause... and feel things.
