Interview: Why CBA is tipping rates will rise this year

Everybody’s talking about interest rates. The US Federal Reserve has indicated it could start lifting rates as soon as March, with several more hikes likely this year. As a result, share markets continued to tumble.

So what's going to happen in Australia? The Reserve Bank has previously suggested rates wouldn't rise until 2024… but Gareth Aird, Commonwealth Bank’s Head of Australian Economics, says everything has now changed. He reveals exactly what the nation's biggest bank is forecasting.
