Investigative journalist Matthew Cole joins host Molly Jong-Fast to dig into his new book, Princes and Thieves, and explains why he stands by his reporting even as Jared Kushner and his lawyer deny every allegation in it. He walks through Kushner's hidden White House diplomacy and a secret world of Gulf power politics involving the Dutch, the GRU, and access to Kushner's phone that allegedly led to discoveries about bank accounts tied to UAE and Saudi-linked money flows. He describes two accounts in the book: an "Alpha" account in the UAE that he says was a foreign-policy fund used for operations in places like Libya, with transfers including about $20 million to Erik Prince and $85 million to Khalifa Haftar, and a separate "Beta" account in Israel connected to coordination through David Friedman. Cole also argues that the accounts symbolize Kushner and Trump's alignment with authoritarian Gulf leaders and secret foreign policy, and that the reporting raises major questions about what was happening behind the scenes and how it may connect to the broader push toward war with Iran.
