Welcome to the Fear and Greed Business News Afternoon Report for Wednesday, the nineteenth of March twenty twenty five. I'm sure nayelma. Every afternoon we've got the fire stories that happened today that you need to know about. Story and I'm one. The SMPASX two hundred closed down nearly half percent today. It wasn't a hugely busy day. The utilities in real estate sub indices did worst, while the healthcare index did best. The trade at the moment on the local market is for US facing stocks. Companies like Macquari Group and Aristocrat Leisure to be struggling, though I wouldn't overstate that QB was a standout among the large caps today, jumping sharply looking further afield, Brent crudes fetching around seventy US dollars a barrel, bitcoins trading around eighty three thousand US dollars a unit, the Aussie dollars about sixty three and a half sixty four US cents, and gold is certainly glittering, hitting a high this morning off three thousand and thirty eight US dollars. An ounce story number two in Corporate news, Mineral Resources share price dropped sharply today after authorities closed the miners Onslowe iron Ore hal route following a sixth crash on the road. In the latest incident, a three hundred ton triple road train rolled over the roots used to transport resmn's iron Ore to port and separately, Rio Tinto has recommended shareholder's vote against a proposal to review a possible unification of the miners dualist structure brought by shareholder Pallaser Capital. Rio's board says it's already considered moving to a single listing and it isn't appropriate. Story number three Meyer has announced a very ordinary half year profit, hurt by the need to increase promotions to move stock and issues at a distribution center in Melbourne. For the six months to the end of January, same store sales were flat, while pre tax earnings were down twenty eight percent. The retailer, which is in the middle of integrating five brands including just Genes, JJ's, Portmans and Dotty, said it is still having trouble getting its Melbourne distribution center to operate efficiently. My share price finished down more than two percent today. Storro at number four. Vladimir Putin has ordered Russia's military to refrain from striking Ukrainian energy infrastructure for thirty days, but stopped short of agreeing to an unconditional ceasefire. The Kremlin said the Russian president had reacted positively to a suggestion by US President Donald Trump to halt the attacks in a much anticipated phone call between the two leaders. It added that Putin immediately gave the Russian military the corresponding order. Rather than agreeing to the US President's proposal for an unconditional thirty day ceasefire in Ukraine, Putin highlighted a series of significant issues about enforcing such an agreement and serious risks concerning Key's compliance. According to the Ft and Finally story number five, NASA's two stranded astronauts finally splashed down on Earth this morning, ending a marathon mission that began with a bungled Boeing test flight more than nine months ago. Butich Wilmore and Sonny Williams bade farewell to the International Space Station and returned to Earth aboard a space ex capsule with two other astronauts. The capsule landed of Florida coast just before nine am, asturing in the eastern daylight savings time. They're now in Houston for testing. Wilmore and Williams ended up spending two hundred and eighty six days in space, two hundred and seventy eight days longer than anticipated when they launched. They circled Earth four thousand, five hundred and seventy six times and traveled one hundred and ninety five million kilometers by the time of splash down as it.
