Jezebel, Ahab & Feminism: The Spiritual Warfare of Narcissism No One Names

View descriptionShare

Jesus held it against an entire church because they tolerated this spirit. And the body of Christ is still tolerating it today.

In this episode, Leah, Malaine, and returning guest Apostle Jenny Embrey go deep into the Jezebel spirit: how it shows up in leadership, in relationships, and across entire generations. They unpack what happened when Malaine was personally delivered from this spirit, what Jesus actually says about it in Revelation 2, and why the Ahab spirit that enables Jezebel is just as dangerous as the one it serves. From the cultural pipeline that opened the door for Jezebel to operate at a societal level to the Hebrew and Greek roots of these principalities, this conversation names what most churches refuse to touch.

Leah traces the line from feminism to emasculation to the degenderizing movement and shows how the Jezebel playbook from 1 Kings is repeating in real time. Jenny brings Revelation 2:18-23 to the table and reads what Jesus himself says about the church that tolerates this spirit. And Malaine walks you through what to actually do when you are in relationship with someone operating under this principality, including the boundaries most believers have been told are un-Christlike.

"This spirit wants to dismantle anything pure. And it will stop at nothing unless it is dealt with."

-Apostle Jenny Embrey

Key Takeaways

  • Why the Jezebel spirit functions as a gatekeeping principality that opens the door for higher-ranking demons to flood in behind it.
  • What actually happened when Malaine was delivered from the Jezebel spirit and how her husband was delivered from the Ahab spirit months later.
  • What Jesus says directly to the church in Revelation 2:18-23 about tolerating this spirit and why he calls it "the deep things of Satan."
  • How feminism functioned as the cultural gateway for the Jezebel spirit to operate at a generational and societal level.
  • Why the Ahab spirit is just as sinister as Jezebel and what the emasculation of an entire generation of men has to do with it.
  • How to identify this spirit in your own life, your relationships, and your church, and the practical steps to navigate it without trying to fight it in your own strength.

Featured Scripture

Revelation 2:20

"I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads my bondservants astray so that they commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols."

Application: Jesus is speaking directly to the church here, and he holds it against them. The church at Thyatira was doing good deeds, walking in love and faith and service. And Jesus still held it against them because they tolerated this spirit. He threatens to throw her on a bed of sickness, kill her children with plague, and bring great tribulation on everyone who comes into agreement with her deeds. Tolerating the Jezebel spirit has never been compassion. It has always been rebellion. The call for the believer is to stop tolerating the spirit: in your home, in your church, and in your own life.

Historical and Theological References

Queen Jezebel. A Phoenician princess who married King Ahab of the northern kingdom of Israel in the ninth century BC. She did not assimilate into Israel's covenant but instead established state-sponsored idolatry, placing 850 false prophets of Baal and Asherah on the royal payroll while hunting down and killing the prophets of Yahweh. She weaponized legal and religious systems against righteous people, fabricated charges, and seized land through murder. Her death was prophesied: she was thrown from a window by her own eunuchs, trampled by horses, and devoured by dogs until nothing remained but her skull, her feet, and the palms of her hands. The spirit that operated through her continues to function as a gatekeeping principality that opens the door for higher-ranking demonic powers to enter.

The Ahab Spirit. The counterpart to the Jezebel spirit, operating through passivity, abdication of authority, and emasculation. In the biblical narrative, Ahab was king but Jezebel functioned as both queen and king because he refused to step into his God-given role. When Elijah confronted Ahab, Ahab called Elijah "the troubler of Israel." Elijah responded that it was Ahab and his father's house who troubled Israel because they abdicated their role as men of God. The Ahab spirit enables the Jezebel spirit to thrive by refusing to confront it.

Scriptures for Further Study

1 Kings 16:29-33. The introduction of Ahab as king of Israel and his marriage to Jezebel. Ahab did more evil in the sight of the Lord than all who were before him, and Jezebel's influence brought Baal worship into the heart of Israel.

1 Kings 18:17-18. Ahab calls Elijah the troubler of Israel. Elijah responds that Ahab and his father's house are the troublers because they forsook the commandments of the Lord and followed the Baals.

2 Kings 9:30-37. The death of Jezebel as prophesied. Jehu commands her eunuchs to throw her from the window. When they return to bury her, only her skull, her feet, and the palms of her hands remain.

Revelation 2:18-23. Jesus addresses the church at Thyatira. He commends their deeds but holds it against them that they tolerate the woman Jezebel. He threatens to throw her on a bed of sickness and kill her children with plague so that all the churches will know he searches minds and hearts.

Revelation 2:24. Jesus calls the teachings of this spirit "the deep things of Satan." Reserved for the most dangerous category of deception.

John 10:7-10. Jesus declares he is the door of the sheep. The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He came that they would have life and have it abundantly. The only door to freedom from every spirit.

Luke 10:19. Jesus gives his disciples authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. The authority to overcome belongs to Jesus alone, delegated to those who are submitted to him.

Ephesians 6:12. We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Psalm 91. The shelter of the Most High. The promise of protection for those who dwell in the secret place. Referenced as a first-line prayer for anyone navigating the Jezebel spirit.

If you listened to this episode and recognized this spirit in your own life, do not let the conviction pass. Today is the day. Submit yourself to Jesus, repent for anything known or unknown that has allowed you to partner with this spirit, and then set the boundary you have been avoiding. Tolerating this spirit is exactly what Jesus held against the church. Go read Revelation 2:18-23 until the weight of it settles. Then take it to the Lord and ask him to fight the battle for you.
