Soul fragmentation came out of the occult, and it still works on Christians.

Leah & Malaine both came out of the New Age, so they recognise the vocabulary on sight. Soul loss, soul retrieval, soul parts, soul contracts. It sits in Kabbalah, in Egyptian texts, in ancient Chinese sources, in shamanic practice, and Leah taught versions of it herself for years. The kingdom of darkness builds real weapons, and as Malaine says on-mic, the Holy Spirit does not heal anybody on the back of a lie.

Which is where the trouble starts. Revelation 18 is a cargo manifest, and the King James ends it with slaves and souls of men, and that phrase has quietly become the proof text for soul trading in deliverance ministries. Leah got a check in her spirit about it, went after the Greek, and came back with something that took Malaine's own position apart on air. Malaine brought the topic in expecting an easy episode and says she was certain right up until she wasn't. Then they got into Ezekiel 13 that actually runs the other direction and turns out to be far more occult than the King James lets on.

Underneath all of it is the argument these two keep circling. The kingdom of darkness disciples its people by the age of twelve, in the natural and in the spirit, while the church runs another feel good conference. Standing on a verse that will not hold hands free ammunition to everybody already working to discredit deliverance ministry. Extra-biblical is not unbiblical. This is part one, and part two will go after blood libel and a covert economy in children, all backed by Bible of course.

Key Takeaways
Soul fragmentation, soul parts, soul contracts and soul retrieval come out of Kabbalah, Egyptian texts, ancient Chinese sources and shamanic practice, and both hosts still say the kingdom of darkness is doing all of it.
Why the healings survivors report can be real even when the language wrapped around them is not biblical.
The kingdom of darkness disciples its people better than the church disciples its own, has them trained by twelve, and Matthew 23 is where Leah lands on why.
The last two items on the Revelation 18 cargo manifest, and what the word behind slaves meant to a shipping merchant.
Why thirty pieces of silver was a market price and an insult at the same time.
Nephesh appears 754 times in the Bible and its root word is not soul. It is a body part.
Soul stealing is in the law of Moses with a death sentence attached to it, and it is not what deliverance ministry means by the phrase.
What the King James calls pillows and kerchiefs in Ezekiel 13, and what the Akkadian tablets turned them into.
One ritual object in that same passage appears exactly once in all of scripture, and nobody alive knows what it was.

Featured Scripture

Ezekiel 13:18, 20

"And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you?"

"Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly." (KJV)

Application: Read that in the King James and it sounds like a complaint about upholstery. Read it in the NET or the ESV and it is a paid ritual practice, run by a class of practitioners inside God's own people, hunting human beings with objects strapped to wrists and heads. God does not argue with them. He tears the implements off their arms and lets the hunted go. Whatever is happening in the world you are reading about right now, the response in the text is not a debate about whether it is real. It is a removal.

The Bible is stranger, darker, and more glorious than you were taught. Let's talk about it.

Faith on the Fringe Podcast is where Leah Steele Barnett and Malaine Lea Butler explore the supernatural biblical worldview that most modern churches have quietly shelved. Spirit-Filled. Bible-Obsessed. Slightly Unhinged.

The Divine Council. Fallen Watchers. The Nephilim. Pre-flood history. Spiritual warfare with real teeth. We bring the scholarship, the Spirit, and zero religious performance.

We are not doom-scrolling through Revelation or building bunkers. This is a Kingdom-forward conversation rooted in the belief that God's story is bigger, wilder, and more victorious than mainstream theology has made room for.

For the believers who never stopped asking questions. For the Christ-followers who want the whole Bible, not just the comfortable parts.

MEET THE HOSTS OF FAITH ON THE FRINGE

LEAH STEELE BARNETT

Faith-led cultural commentator, AI educator, and host of The Culture Cast operating at the intersection of technology, culture, and Kingdom stewardship. She examines cultural deception, belief systems, and power structures through a biblical lens. She is pattern-oriented, allergic to hype, and built for the kind of theology that doesn't flinch. On The Fringe, she brings the research, the receipts, and a refusal to let comfortable doctrine go unchallenged.

MALAINE LEA BUTLER

Deliverance-driven disciple of Jesus Christ who walked out of the New Age and into radical transformation through the power of the Gospel. Host of Kingdom Talk and founder of Eden House, she creates space for raw, deep, and confrontational conversations that call hearts into full surrender and freedom in Christ. On The Fringe, she brings fire, spiritual authority, and zero tolerance for religious performance.
