We live in a world that tells us that we should seek love and reject love all at the same time. The duality of the message around relationships has created an interesting generation of people, seeking companionship and independence at the same time.
Notions of relationships within queerness are fiercely debated - on one hand some people believe we should rebut perceived heteronormative relationships, rooted in ideals like monogamy and marriage, while others believe that the right to be married and have monogamous queer relationships accepted is the standard we should aspire too. There are also those who seek open relationships, even within marriage, and some who are committed to the idea of polyamory. By no means are these the only discussions, but one thing is for sure - we are in a world in need of love, and we are finding our own ways to it.
In this episode, we talk about love, finding love, being open to love, and what it means to be a single queer man in Sydney.
