Can Nicotine Patch Alleviate Memory Loss?

View descriptionShare

Nearly one in seven U.S. adults 65+ have mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a precursor to Alzheimer’s disease.

Right now, there’s no treatment. However there is an innovative National Institute of Health (NIH) funded clinical trial called the MIND Study (Memory Improvement Through Nicotine Dosing).

Dr. Paul Newhouse, director of the MIND Study came on the program to talk about how the study is testing to see whether a nicotine patch can alleviate symptoms of memory loss in people who have MCI, and possibly delay or prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
