"Happy are those who remain faithful under trials, because when they succeed in passing such a test, they will receive their reward as the life which God has promised to those who love him."
James 1:12

What do you do when life doesn't go according to plan?

In today's reflection, Ash unpacks one of the most challenging and encouraging promises in the book of James: remaining faithful when life is hard.

Together, we'll explore why trials, disappointments, unanswered prayers, and seasons of uncertainty aren't necessarily signs that God has abandoned us. Instead, they may be the very places where our faith is being strengthened, refined, and deepened.

Ash reflects honestly on the questions many of us ask when life gets difficult:

"God, why is this happening?"
"God, when will this be over?"
"God, why me?"

Yet James offers a completely different perspective. He reminds us that our faith was never meant to be built on comfort, convenience, or perfect circumstances. It was always meant to rest on the goodness and faithfulness of God.

This episode is a reminder that while trials are never easy, they are never wasted. God sees every moment of perseverance, every act of obedience, and every time we choose to trust Him when we don't understand what He's doing.

If you're walking through disappointment, uncertainty, waiting, grief, unanswered prayers, or a difficult season, this reflection will encourage you to lift your eyes beyond your circumstances and remember the goodness of the God who walks with you through them.

Because sometimes the greatest growth in our faith comes not when everything goes right, but when we learn to trust God when everything feels uncertain.

Reflection Questions:

💭 What trial or challenge are you facing right now, and how might God be using it to grow your faith rather than simply remove your discomfort?

💭 When life gets difficult, do you focus more on the problem or on the goodness of God?

💭 What is one practical way you can fix your eyes on God's faithfulness this week?
