Key Takeaways:
Salvation and Idolatry: Salvation involves more than personal redemption; it’s about toppling idols like wealth and power that hinder our capacity to love.
Lessons from the Rich Young Ruler and Zacchaeus: Both figures provide insights into faith and the danger of prioritizing wealth over God.
Identifying Modern Idols: Idols today can range from money to family and power, obstructing spiritual growth by placing them above divine priorities.
The Role of Disordered Desires: Disordered desires can lead us away from love, enslaving us to selfishness and pride.
Holiness Through Love: Genuine holiness is achieved when love becomes the driving force behind every action.

Notable Quotes:
"The idol of money was radically displaced and sanctification was in progress. The action set him free."
"Idols are something that usurps the way of God."
"All of this happens at the expense of others, the people we're called to love and serve."
"God works to set us free so that love becomes the driver for every action."
"Don't be surprised when God speaks to you about the priorities of your heart."

The God of the Bible is a talking God. All throughout the Scriptures, God is seen talking to people. First to the prophets, then most fully in Jesus and today through his Holy Spirit. When we choose to follow Jesus, the Spirit speaks to remind us of all that Jesus established and apply it to our lives.

So how does the Spirit speak? How do we know it’s God? And what happens afterwards? Join Rev Dr Tania Harris as she explores what the Spirit is saying to us. Everyday God Conversations will encourage you weekly to reflect on the God-conversations of Scripture, the ultimate God-conversation in Jesus and to hear from the Holy Spirit yourself. Remember, it was never meant to be a one-way conversation!
