View descriptionShare

Choosing to pursue a career in the arts is often preceded by the challenging task of convincing our parents of its worth. Our guest tonight exemplifies how rewarding this journey can be. Beginning her photographic endeavors in 2012 by documenting stories from her neighborhood in Thokoza, East of Johannesburg, she has ascended to international acclaim. At 29, she has garnered significant recognition by recently receiving the 2024 Discovery Award Louis Roederer Foundation’s Public Award and the prestigious Madame Figaro Photo Award for her exhibition "Ho tshepa ntshepedi ya bontshepe" (To Believe in Something That Will Never Happen) at the Rencontres d’Arles summer photography festival in France. Tshepiso Mazibuko joins us this evening to share more about her remarkable journey.
