There’s been a call for President Ramaphosa to do something about the banks roles in manipulating the rand and this comes after the Standard Chartered bank of the UK admitted to manipulating the rand and it wasn’t just one bank but a number of banks. According to Unisa Professor Boitumelo Senokoane, President Cyril Ramaphosa will not act against the banks over rand fixing. Prof  Senokoane, joins the popular narrative that the president's strong links with big corporate and monopoly capital will hinder him from taking the banks to task.
