Topic: Prioritising your child’s mental health in the run up to final exams and their next steps

View descriptionShare

This evening we talk about the importance of your child’s mental health in the run up to final exams and their next steps. Tammy Dicks, National Trauma Support Coordinator at ER24, explains that it is important to support your child to stay calm. It’s important to listen and communicate that exam stress is normal, as is wondering what lies ahead. Remind your child that an exam measures understanding of completed work. You should keep reassuring him that the results are not dependent on who they are, or on your love and approval. Tests and challenges are an opportunity to learn, and failure is not the end of the world. Avoid criticism and instead validate your child’s concerns through your guidance and support. Tammy joins us to talk about prioritising your child’s mental health in the run up to final exams and their next steps.
