Among the torchlighters in this year's Israel Independence Day ceremony is Yael Sherer, a filmmaker, writer, activist and advocate for victims of sexual violence. Sherer, who herself was sexually abused by her father in her childhood, turned her own struggle and experience into a life mission, to help survivors of sexual abuse, raise awareness, and affect change. She most recently founded the Survivors of Sexual Violence Advocacy Group. Sherer spoke earlier this week with KAN reporter Naomi Segal.
