Over a quarter of Israeli households live in poverty and the inequality between the rich and poor in the country is growing. This according to the latest alternative report on poverty by the NGO Latet, which found that no less than 2.6 million Israelis are living in poverty. Some 40 percent of families on welfare say that they reduce the size of meals for their children. Gilles Darmon, founder and president of Latet told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that not only should the incoming government take steps to curb poverty, but all society needs to take action.
