The recently released annual report on poverty by the National Insurance Institute shows that although there were fewer poor children in Israel in 2017 compared to the year before, the number of elderly residents living in poverty had in fact risen. Leket Israel, the National Food Bank, says that the poverty report underscores, now more than ever, how critical food rescue is in alleviating the poverty crisis. KAN's Naomi Segal spoke to Gidi Kroch, CEO of Leket Israel, about the report's implications for food security among Israel's poorest residents.
