Israel's relatively successful response to the COVID-19 outbreak underscores the need to protect and boost the country's neglected healthcare system, according to Prof. Dov Chernichovsky, professor emeritus of health economics and policy at Ben Gurion University of the Negev and head of the health policy program at the Taub Center for Social Policy Research in Israel. He told KAN's Naomi Segal that a number of factors have played a role in reducing the spread of the virus and not overwhelming hospitals' capacity for treating the ill.
