The stress and anxiety that come with a traumatic event can be overwhelming. The pain of the event can linger for years, even decades, and this is why it’s important to take time to heal and move on from the pain. The key to getting over these traumatic experiences is to embrace your own strength and power. This means being open-minded about what you want in life, living your life with passion and enthusiasm, and working towards achieving your goals. Do not try to avoid your trauma or forget it because doing so will only worsen it. Releasing the burden of past experiences through talking about them with friends, family, or a therapist is also a good idea. Sherlyn is an Administrative Assistant at The Miracles Club, a community recovery center. Though her roots are in Louisiana, she has spent a great amount of time in Portland. Her passion for helping others drives her to feed the homeless and volunteer at various organizations. Evangelism, Sunday school teacher, youth director, praise, and worship leader are some of the areas she has participated in her local Church. She is also an Alumni of Warner Pacific University, where she plans to receive her master's degree in the near future.

Eoj Johnson, the operation manager of Miracle Club. Johnson was previously working for Central City concern, Golden West HRR program (Housing Rapid Response). At Miracle Club, he works as a supervisor over mentors who deal with people struggling with addiction. They have a recovery house, and it houses eight men and one house manager.
