Today I’m talking to Eduinflueners founder and expert in school leadership and cultural change, Rochelle Borton. We’ll be discussing some key challenges in the school sector at the moment, and what can be done to ensure the entire school community (students, teachers, parents and school leaders) continue to promote a positive culture and consistent quality during turbulent times. 

After acknowledging how tough it is for our NSW Year 12 teachers and students at the moment (and suggesting different modes of assessment), Rochelle went on to say that schools that were well-prepared for the pandemic have handled it much better. Those who haven't been so well=prepared, have faced far more challenges and stress. 

Rochelle also discusses the importance of strong leadership during these times and communication that is "clear and concise". She also spoke about the importance of positive workplace cultures during these times of crises, and how staff can adopt maladaptive (unhelpful) or adaptive (helpful) behaviours) in creating the culture.

Finally, the Eduinfluencer founder emphasised the absolute importance of teacher care and wellbeing at the moment, going beyond the usual building resilience activities.  Some may need to consider how they are coping psychologically right now.
