Undoubtedly acquiring new skills - and a greater sense of agility and resilience -  benefitted many teachers, but the revolving door of face-to-face learning and remote or online learning has left many fatigued and "at risk of burnout".

In this episode, Education Review speaks to Marcela Slepica, Clinical Services Director at AccessEAP, a leading specialist provider of mental health and wellbeing services. As a psychologist with over 20 years' experience and Masters degree in psychology, Marcela is well-placed to offer advice on spotting the signs of fatigue, anxiety and burnout, as well as what can be done to address these feelings.

Not only have the swift shifts in learning delivery created a significant amount of fatigue and anxiety for some teachers, Marcela says many teachers "have missed their classrooms and students", as well as those "incidental chats" with colleagues that are critical to a sense of belonging. With teacher retention at an all-time low and the pandemic affecting many educators' mental health and wellbeing, Marclea believes a supportive workplace environment will be critical for teachers moving forward.

"It's all about organisational culture," she says.
