A national shutdown has been called for today, 19 October, by Concerned Citizens of South Africa, with organisers urging workers and learners to stay home in protest against rising fuel prices. The campaign is demanding cuts to fuel taxes and levies, as petrol reached R30.25 per litre in October. Africa Melane speaks to Concerned Citizens of South Africa representative Ntokozo Mkhize about the planned shutdown and the call for relief from rising fuel costs.
