Suzanne Radford is in conversation this morning with Louisa Macmillan, the independent curator of Another Day Lost, by UK based Syrian artist, Issam Kourbaj, a series of art installations based on the lives of Syrian refugees and currently showing in Alserkal Avenue.
Two years ago Syria didn’t feature among the top thirty source countries for refugees – today it is the single largest country of origin for refugees. With an estimated 9 million Syrian’s displaced from their homes, and living in refugee camps, Another Day Lost is inspired by the refugee camps, and made out of discarded books, maps, packaging, and medicine boxes.
