WCPT 820 Interview: Chicago Ald. Gilbert Villegas

View descriptionShare

Three days after the seven members of the Chicago school board resigned in mass, Chicago Ald. Gilbert Villegas talked to Patti Vasquez about the latest developments.  Villegas knocked Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson for creating "manufactured chaos" and instability with his effort to oust Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez by appointing a new school board. "Pedro didn't lose the board, the mayor lost the board, and what you saw was the mayor exercising his power, and I would say abusing his power, by asking the board to resign and then appointing a [new] board . . . to pass a $300 million payday loan as well as fire the CEO, since the board is the entity that can actually fire the CEO of CPS."
