Diocesan Growth and Community Outreach: Laura Keener on Local News Across Covington

Laura Keener, editor of The Messenger (the weekly newspaper of the Diocese of Covington), joins Driving Home to Faith to highlight top stories from around northern Kentucky:

  • Breaking Bread Community Dinners (St. Joseph Parish, Crescent Springs): Launched in April by parishioners Christia Pazza, Jelana Baker, and Tim McLanahan alongside Father Belscher and an anonymous donor, these monthly dinners bring together parishioners and local families in need for shared meals, fellowship, and seasonal activities.

  • $1.5M Providence Center Renovation (St. Thomas Parish, Fort Thomas): Driven by an enrollment increase from 222 to 319 students (including former St. Catherine of Siena students), Father Calhsiun renovated the former Sisters of Divine Providence convent into new preschool classrooms, specialized learning spaces, and a relocated 24-hour Eucharistic Adoration Chapel.

  • Guide to Kentucky’s Best Award: The Notre Dame Urban Education Center in Covington was recognized in the Specialized Education Programs category for its support of local public and private school students.

  • Bambinelli Blessing & Tree Lighting: Scheduled to return on December 13 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Park following Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption.
