He's a Miami hippop pioneer. Up is d J e f N. Together they drink it up with some of the biggest players in the most professional, unprofessional podcast and yet number one sort for drunk drinks Mother. Every day is New Year's E time for drink Champs, Trink Up Mother Mother? Would it good? Beat Hopeully's would it Ship be? This is your boy and what up is d J E f and his drinks has? Motherfucker yad cast makes up? Look And when we're talking about legends, we're talking about legend legends you talking about I believe came out since Nanty six been out here, monkey Foot in the game doing when she gotta do, got Hits, pawn Hits, dominated the music career, then went on, uh you know, did tours all that while being a mother, you know, holding down the mothership. Then also went and dominated reality TV. As Wow, you understand what I'm saying. She came a little late, so we're gonna get we gonna get straight into it o'clock. Girl, don't worry about I don't worry about what we're talking about mout So let me ask you right this big controversy that's going on right now with Trick Daddy saying that, but Yance can't tang right, I gotta start there because you being a singers singer, you're like, like, I can tell you went to church, like you know, it's it's it's throughout that all that. What do you what do you hear when you what do you think of when you hear people say that about the Queen Beyonce? It's the audacity for me, Like, if you don't sing, you don't have no room to tell who can't sing? If you don't like something, then you could give your opinion nobody. Because I had this honestly, I had this conversation a week ago with Trina. I was like, what you think about people automatically putting you in that because that's your people. She was like, no slander for the queen will be accepted. You feel me, it's just certain things. Beyonce is our queen, so us as singers, us as artists We have seen her pushed through since she was fourteen fifteen Rocket Hills on the Runway on the with the Celettos, dancing from group to now being a mom, to being a solo artist to flying in there. Nobody does that in music, So you're going to respect that. If you don't like the way she's saying, don't listen period. But but I believe what he was trying to say. It's like because Betty Right is like, like, um, that's like she's the vocalist. You rest in peace to her. So so is he? Is he when he thinks that? Is he comparing Betty Right to be honest? Is that's what he's doing with that? I had saw with like how he tried to He never he never backed down. He stood firm in his opinion. But he yeah, But he was trying to say, like Whitney Houston and h he named other days Anita Baker, Gladys Night, Beyonce is not that type of artist, like she can go there because she's done the movie like Ella fish Gerald, Uh, where did she do? La? Wasn't all yeah when she yeah when she sings like she could give you that. But she's all around entertainer. We've never seen Anita go up in the air and sing upside down. We've never seen Anita do the booty hop. We've never seen Whitney. Whitney can say she came straight from church and that's what she was. But from a singer's perspective, if you honestly have ever been in any of their presence, you can see they have difference. Asks like me and her don't even sound like So there's a lot of people who could do what you do, but you can't do what they do, and vice versa. So with that being said, since he does this thing, I understand his opinion. But let's just be real and let's be honest. This generation, if I ask my kids right now, my oldest is eighteen, my youngest five, have you ever heard of needy? Who that you feel me? They know who Beyonce is, They're not gonna know who a Betty Right is. So it behooves us to be like, Okay, this is y'all Betty right? What this is my Betty Right? So honestly, yeah, it's the generation, this inneration. Don't be careous. So let me ask you all my kids don't care and then you care about me perspective, What does it take to be a real true singer? From your perspective, there's gifts and there's talents, and then there's people who just get by because like, let's just be real, there's a lot of people, in my opinion, be like they can't say but I won't say it anymore. I used to say it out loud, but I realized, altot honestly save the music industry because there's a lot of people who can't even up on be who can't even wrap orders. We're gonna be key because people be. You ever see people they'll sing there, they'll wrap their song and then when they get live, you're like, why is you yelling? You? But your hands up like it is what it is. But although to honestly save the music industry, the sound has changed since I came out. I started touring in ninety three, ninety one. I was still in high school, so my uncle took me on tour. So that's where I got to learn sound and tone, pitch control, all of that stuff. Because I'm thinking I could sing and he'll call me. He'd be like, what's that diaphragm doing? Because don't get out there just hollering. But yeah, so the technical part of singing, there's only a couple of people who get it. And it's not even your throat or your diaphragm, it's what you hear and you have to think about what you're gonna do before that sound even comes about your out your mouth. And because it was being used in studios, people was using vote quarters and stuff, which was a formal auto tune because you plug it up to a keyboard on the microphone and it actually balances out, you know, the note that's supposed to be correct sauce if you turn it off and don't documented. We were teeth pain and saying that I shall um killed the Yeah, there's actually documentary that goes with it. I am Pop and the guy who invented auto tunes on there and he said it's because he was recording his boss's wife and uh, his boss wife knew she couldn't sing, and said, I need I swear to God, I can't sing, but I wanna look like I can. And then he made auto tune for like people automatically think auto tune auto makes you sound good, It doesn't. You have to have somebody that's a skilled engineer know how to balance it up because there's melodine, there's vocal, a line, there's so many things that people just and I'm like, I use auto tune because they are Sometimes I'll be like, okay, I have a strong vibrato, so I was I don't like the then when you hear people but some people going and I'm like, oh no, it's like pitch correct. It's auto correct. So have you type of somebody type to give you a suggestion, this is what you should use. But the blessing about what I have is that I don't need it, but I use it because I realized that the sound, but whatever they corrected to, I can still do it with my voice. That's a gift basically. Yeah, if you're just like if you have a saxophone, if you all what it's gonna do, it's gonna be squeaking. But even when you use the auto twol you never used it live because that's like a whole different skill. Yeah. I always use like reverb or a little delay live because it's something those plug ins or those things were created so you can still have that feel. Because if I'm singing in this room, the acoustics on it's gonna make you feel something. But if I'm singing in the dynamic or we're singing in the dome, the sound goes up, it's not gonna sound the same as in he So those things were created by people, by master people sitting in from the computer all days saying Okay, this is the sound I want to I want to captivate that same sound as if we're still here. So have you ever heard that there's a difference between a dry mic, a rappers mike, and the singers mike. I always tell people I do a lot of shows with rappers to this day, and I'm like, don't make my mic sound like a rapper mike. They don't use reverb, they don't use auto tune, they don't use delay, they don't ye period. Oh my god. So um, okay, let's think it from the beginning. Right when we google, you would say he was born in Long Island, but then you moved to bottom Are. No. I was born and raised in Long Island, between Long Island and South South Jamaica Queens. So my dad joined the military. After that, we moved to Texas, Atlanta, North Carolina Army. Okay, saw my army brat so from the like, I literally been on tour since I was thirteen, So yeah, it's been up. So that's why when I got into the music industry, it really wasn't as much change. I'm used to moving around, so I've been everywhere, not like I'll find they at. The final stop was in uh Fort Meat, Maryland, but it's right outside of Baltimore. So I was just like, yeah, I'm just read Baltimore and that's where I've been the longest. So New York I was like, well, I was born and raised and that's where I honestly God, I was saying, my grid and my Then I moved back to New York after that, and from there I had toward I moved back to New York to go to hair school. I was going to Long Island Beauty School. But um, I had got to call. Right before I got the call from Missy. I was on tour with Gangstar when it was when they did jazz my task just so I was to like after like from the Gang Star tour, I took over. Indeed dat I was singing, indeed death reports, but I want to trust you, baby. I was young, I was my dad side, I was outside side. So I toured that like I sang his eyes on the sparrow and keeps recipees to him his living room and he was like you want to go into I was like yeah, because he was guru when it was him in Premier. But when we did Jansitest, he was Mr Little or Keith. It's always amazing. At least the first one he did too, right, he didn't so when it did come to make it a lot of people didn't know that. You know what is like because that was like that like that was my security. Yeah. So to this day we still hit each other and be like, yo, that's crazy. You always saying what you was gonna did. So I went overseas with them. I was hyped up, had a passport many me coming straight out of high school and hair school. Shoot, it's about seventeen. So then after that, um I started doing her bread hair in Queens and I was a valley stream more. One day I was at the Yeah yeah I got I had a beep up and that's when Missy had they had beat me from election. Was like missing wanted to call now my job still ratchet? Okay, but who what version of Missy is this, this is, this is I Yeah, So that was like ninety eight because I believe we didn't like I didn't like the flood games open, but like, what did you hear of you that she's reaching out some songs that I had reference for artists because I was getting placements. So they had like Michael Speaks a Dina Howard. It was like when they had like that, that's when you could they say to who's looking list? So it was submitting songs, but I was like, none of this motherfucker's is getting place. But then I later found out this is what one of the producers told me. They were just like, you have to dumb down your singing because you're singing too much. It's intimidated to artists. So I was only getting placements at that time, or like Gerald Leaverte and like those type of artists. So I'm a young vocal said you're doing more than the reference. He was doing the same. But I was just like yeah, because I'm like, come with it ain't no since to me just saying that regular and then you beat me on it, and then you know, I mean because at the end of the day, if I do the record, it might be a chance I might have to keep it because I'm still an artist. But I wasn't signed, but I was just like I knew what I was doing. Have you ever did a record for somebody and then they did it and he was like, you wish you took it back? H Honestly, don't get away now. I recently did a record. I had to go back and do my part over because I was like my son told me, Yo, Paine got out on you on this record. You gotta go do your part over. So yeah, you're not gonna you're Have you gave up a record to an artist and like you know, wrote for them or reference for them, and they didn't do do it to it what you wanted them to do. No. I was always the person that, hey, we gave somebody record, we want you to sing their part over. That's how I got a crop like it's a it's a whole. I mean, it's it's some history. It was never anything I did that because other than that, I wouldn't give it away. Like I'm real strategic and particular about songs that like you have to be those are your babies, that's that's your that's your job. So you can't just give anybody anything. It don't work like that. There are some songs I'll be like, uh that I had to vocal produce for people, and I'm just like, you know, I'm gonna just go ahead and in there and sing it for them. So that's happened. You watched the shot, I saw like a little bit of it. My mom watches it. So I don't really watch TV that much because I know you don't be you don't stay home, don't be home. It's not that, it's just like it's just so much going on. Like I'm back on my glow ship, like I'm trying to win. So unless they're calling me to be on that, I really don't. Really. That's a great show, and I know it's something that question I asked you, like, did you have a have a record and give it? Because you know what we always say. We always say that's my baby, like that's artists. We always say that's my baby. But every now and then we'll give away a record and be like, damn, that's my On the shot, this lady gave me away her baby, but then the last episode she wants a baby back. That's why I asked you that question, Okay, go back to miss here's the records. What records is shearing? Do you know? It was some references I did, and she told marylan Bob to tell me to call her. And so when I when I was finished getting my nails, I remember looking at my beep and it was a two one to them and I knew two on to mean green aggles. I was just like that. That's so I was like hello. Rick Brown was like, Marillan want to speak to you. Marillan gets on the phone. He was like, Missy wants you to call. I'm like, get the funk out here they go. I'm in Green Eggs getting my nails and why would Missy elli woman call he? He was like, you have something that you could write the number? Then we ain't have cell phones. We could just say what texted to me. So I had to find a pencil and I wrote it down at the pay phone. And so I called her from a pay phone and she was like hello, hold on. I think she might have been in her Landbow or something and she was like, let me turn this music down. She was like, hey, yo, you like do you want to go into Like what exactly do you want to do. I'm like, first of all, is this really Missy? And then after that she was like, can you come to the city today. I went to the city and the rest was history. Like literally, I was always I just always just know to be on go. And that was Missy at the Electra. She was at the Electric time and that's where you eventually got signed to. Yes, okay, so how does that happen? All right, you're missing going the studio ever we court record? So what is this? Okay? First I going in and I sing at Whitney Houston. I think I sank saving all my love for you. Oh so you wait a wait a minute. You auditioning for miss You know what it is is because sometimes you can hear somebody on the record and be like, let me see how the sound. That's kind I'm saying because be the other sigers. Yeah. So she was just like, yo, I'm about to go on tour. You trying to go? And I was like yeah, And I quit beauty School literally right on the spot, like them, I ain't going back. I told him I was gonna be famous. Yeah. Because now we also hold on just make sure we finished the Missy thing. But we also we've in a view people from five six almost six years. I always studied people's drinks. So you're re sling person, Yeah, because hard liquor just don't really okay, But let me stick on the racling right now because I'm ready for shot. Don't like prosecco, but no, no, no, I can't stand for a secon. I can't stand like I'm getting grown. You can't think about you with me? Ain't you no? Because I just like if I'm if I'm gonna drink something hard, I gotta go all the way. It ain't no in between. Like the other week, I drank a whole thing of Don Julie. I was hyped up. I hadn't been outside in the year. I don't even remember like I was, and I didn't even remember going through the t S a period like I was like, how did we get back? Did we have? This is a time that we praise our artists, so we have to give you a shot. What shot would you like to have? I'm about to put a recent in it, or you gotta get it. You gotta get a super woman some of the summer watermelon list. That's what I'm talking about. Something I got to listen I'm not gonna lie, and I need a bottle of water because it's a watermelon. That's watermelon. Yeah you never had it. I never had that. Yeah, there you go, there you go. Look at that, Look at that, Look at that. We have set up. This is ladies first. Goddamnit. We got the super Woman and the god damn building. Thank you. Alright, let's got that. Like Floyd said, did they pay so? Alottle solot, Come on, that's good. But I don't like what alcohol tastes like alcohol because that makes me feel like I might have to go to your drinking choice, with your drinking choice before recently of me goes. You know, I'm not gonna lie. You keep naming the hardest calls. I'm saying. It's like you guys, gotta go all the way to the top or ain't let me just get a little up right there. No, you gotta go hard. But that cos of me goes will put you on your ass a megoes, So you have missing do y'all actually going to all from there? Yeah? We went overseas the whole United States tour and we did hot Boys in that interim and the boys she was like, Yo, this is about to be out of here, and I believed her, she believed to me, and the rest is literally history. Then after that, like now when you was on a lecture, that's Sylvia role my lecture. Yes, okay, serial roll Merlin Bob, Okay, how was that? Because, um, I've never got to I know Sylvia Rome obviously, but I've never got to work with that sense of woman power, you know what I mean. Like even when I got to work with Mona, Mona wasn't the Mona that she is now. I worked her violator, but U yeah, that's right, I know. But um, so how was that? Because I don't think I've ever worked with a black woman CEO, and especially now that's going on right right now, like how we all were all proud to be like how was it? Um, you know working with that black girl? Magic? It? Okay? So me coming from not knowing the industry to being like literally placed in the upper executive hand like this, Oh, Sylvia wants to meet you with you and then I go on her office and I'm thinking I gotta sit like this. She'd be like, yo, yes she is fine, and I'm just I'm like, yo, okay, I get it. Like you know, I was thinking that the executives have to act all like stuck up like Sylvia Road. Yeah it was. It really was because my thoughts of the industry, and when I actually got into it, I was just like, Wow, make you feel more secure because you had a woman because she's a real black woman, Like she don't play Like I realized now what I should have realized then, like she really had my back because I was running around doing so everybody. She was like, like, what are you doing? Ain't your friends? You know? I gotta actually like you really had your back. At one point, you thought she didn't. I thought she didn't because people would get in my ear and say stuff like, yeah, she should be spending money. Why you only put my only putting out this song? When when are they gonna believe in you if they spent this on this, Oh because you're not light skin? Did it was all of that, and I'm just like, yo, when you start hearing that you don't automatically, I'm like, damn, she keeps it. I keep on getting unlimited car services and she put six hundred thousands in my account. So I'm bawling right now. I was literally what years old and she sent the bag for really one thing about Sylvia, she has no like she's the one like everybody else. If you get signed to somebody else, you have to wait for the clearances. Cy say, send it over, Burper does like they sent it over between uh, Sylvia and Slim. They're the only ones that I know can literally make a phone call and the baggage with Yeah, you've got a good because a lot of people having bad stories for cash money. So you have good cash money stories. Yeah. Yes, got paid and shot like bad videos and got paid. It's like I can understand where things go. But you have to know who to. You have to know how to handle your business. You know what I'm saying. Like I was signed to them, but it was Merlin. Bob did a joint venture with them. It was called round Tape at that time. I don't remember this. Yeah, it was because they were doing like side they had the cash money classes with tinam Reresid Pistoja and then they had round Table. They had other deals that was going on. So the blessing and I think the reason why I don't really have any war stories is because they respected me as an artist. Number one. Number two is it was literally right around when Katrina happened, so the label shut down anyway, so it was almost like I didn't even have to do anything but shoot videos and then they just let that company dissolved. I was like, I didn't have to go through any foolish but I got to work and do shows and stuff with Wayne, so I got the benefits, worked with Mandy Fresh, got to work with Baby, so the checks was like it was running up. So I'm not mad at it, and to this day, like still the respect is dead. That's dope. Now, when I googled you, this is something that that that probably got a little crazy for me, right, not not crazy, not crazy, but it was like when I when I was got deeper, they put all of your husband's right, they put your husband's out. Husband's husband was actually the dates and the time. And I've been wondering who did get information? Who is the Wikipedia, Google god wizard of all that knows all this because it'll be something and I've been like, what, I ain't even remember that. It's somebody that big brother. Maybe it's the government defense, you know what the defenses. But yeah, I saw that tip. That's crazy. That's how did you feel when you've seen that. I was just like, it don't exist to me anymore, anything pre pandemic, don't exist to me anymore. I handled my business. I realized that was the top I can admit and I take full accountability of. I didn't know how to separate the artists from the from the human, so the person from the from the person, so meaning yourself, yes, so little more, there's little more, and then Cynthia, there's not. Yeah, And there was a time where I think that they messed together and that I should have never allowed that to happen. Um. I just watched Mary J Blige on My Friends show The Breakfast Club. Mary J Blige said for years she didn't know her worth, she didn't feel worth it, So how can it hasn't ever been a time where you felt like that, like really, so you could be on the cloud, you could be getting all this money, all these shows coming things, and everything is running up, but then you sit back and you're just like, I can really be just trying to give me anything, And something like that recently happened. I think those are tests because then it's just like it comes to say, let me see if we can still get you and I'd be like, nah, I used to didn't say no. I literally used to pop up to everything and oh, you know someone still having the part. I'm outside your someone so much you're singing this. I'm gonna send the vocals. But then I realized, wait, I said the vocals back that same day. Why it is taking them so longer? Yeah, we're going a different direction. I'll be like, man, you and your direction. You feel me so? But then I realized I was literally taking things per snoop and my team literally broke down to me. That was just like, yo, this is business. Stop taking this so personal. So once I separated those two, that's what I know. It's up from here on. Now, Okay, we're gonna jump in a quick time and slim. You're gonna do it. We're gonna do it it music. I'm just clapping this. This this is good, all right? All right? So this quick time and slim, it's called obviously it's cool, quick slip slap. All of this is. We're gonna give you a multiple choice. It's just too you just pick one or the other. Now, if you're going to pick both, you get a shot ready already you want to pick both it's cool, it's cool. You gotta take a shot. And we just figured out recently if you say neither too, we gotta take a shot. All right, but the good things, Yeah, I don't want to take the shot if you pick one, but if you pick both, because you sincerely mean both, then you gotta take a shot. But but the good thing about it is we're gonna take a shot. We're not gonna leave. I'm gonna be I feel like the number two is going to be the one. Oh my god, see you, I'm telling you, but you gotta chair invested that. We gotta invest in that week I'm missing. You could blow your face if you want. You know what, it's a COVID band's never let's go babiries. So you ready racist nas or j like far at no, no, no, just whatever you wand just remember if you don't, if you want to be politically back, you can take a shot. Now. It's okay, okay, okay, you gotta give me a breakdad, Like if it's the looks that everybody know not snakes weren't to you in your far as business? Ja okay, alright, cool, alright, is freaking a job or fifty as far as what Okay, ship, I wasn't ready for that, all right, fab or Jada kiss? Okay, what's that calling? I know, mel Melah, what's It's the same thing. It just depends on the engineer, Melodon, Missy or Trina take a shot. No, I would say Missy because Trina would say Missy too, because Missy like helped a lot of us. She literally so journal truth doesn't his motherfucker? Okay, that's fire um Beyonce at least the keys Beyonce. Okay, uh ninety I mean nineties hip hip hop times two thousands hip hop? Wait? What's the two thousand hip hop? Because honestly, that's the cut off was about two thousand and three when it started again shaky because if we talk about em C like I'm I'm a rocket two thousand five, then I say, because I didn't listen to the eighties, that hip hop hipot and the hibvot that really wasn't my my twist. So I would say, like when m C l D Nice and like when yeah, nineties and nineties to now, alright, cool, you you got these two. You gotta take a shot for New York or bottom are I love New York just different. Ok, you gotta take a shot for this one. Michael Jackson or Prince like say, you have to be more specific. I'll just take a shot. But I would say Michael, yeah, because Michael used to like he wanted to do this side. He always did up to stand like Chris got something his ass out to stand out. He did. But they both go out to the point where they were telling us who was going down, and then soon after they were telling us what the real was. They were. They were more conscious than the brothers with the beads. You think about it when you're thinking about it, that they be superwoken. Yeah, you need to go to sleep. Yeah, it was smart. Was Michael was telling us Earl everybody's catalogs. Yeah, and they was like, oh, you can't do this. He was like, oh yeah, I'm gonna buy your whole life. He bought the Beatles cattle and the Elephant Man's balls. How do you even know there was for damn sale? How Like it wasn't no Google like elephant man balls or balls? What is that man? He had? He died in the Elephant Elephant Man in real life and Michael Carnival dude, Yeah, they said he bought it was at the house. What was it work? I'm sure he had more. I don't know. Probably he probably got ship my old wing like that was the one that came to was like, Michael, so we know you did thriller and we're just going over the royalties for that. But they have the elephant man balls will sell you. Think about that conversation period. Okay, I show Chris Brown Chris only because I threw that money and Usha said that about the Auto two and then used it like, oh so after I got to be so after he told he paying that note thens right here after he told he paying that he ruined music, I should use the old truth for real. This is fact. No one thing about Twitter and social media. They're pull the receipts and so they was like, wait a minute, this you. That's when they do that. This you and oh my god, when he did let me let Me Love You down, that's all Auto too. But you never know what the engine's using on your vocals anyway. The only people that's honestly flawless. This is rare. But when you know, when you know, yeah, that record, that was definitely he knew what it was. Okay, radio or podcasts. Podcast Yeah, because radio is so political and they'd be camping. I think radio used to be hiring me just so they can fire me to say that. They because I really used to be doing nothing. We're gonna get into that. We're gonna get into that. Okay, Farrell, Kanye, oh my god, give me a shot. Because Kanye is a master, but Farrell's a genius. He's got to explain yourself. Don't worry about Oh my god, let me drink some water. Damn, you look a little. I'm gonna do a half cut of me. That's some of watermelon. They're gonna have to send me a pack that you don't go for it. You're gonna hear right now, Okay, hold on all right, DMX or Tupac like it's certain it's certainly yeah, because X had had an impact because I knew him in real life, so he was definitely a vibe and you could his presence is still felt. And even though I worked with Pop but never met him in real life posthumus, I got it was just like I literally started getting tattoos because I loved Tupac worked when we did shows again, just never met him. I did he did. Yeah, he has like yo, if you ever get the chance to go to his house and like he has videos and footage before all that was like like really the way and I used to watch videos like he would have like videos and Nate everywhere out there golfing like like he was like filming people before it was cool. And he has documentary worthy footage of stuff and you just sit there and watching like dag, like what made you think of this? He's a freaking genius. Respect a loyal respect. Okay, I respect that, uh, Cardi b or Nicki Minad Nicki that personal No, nothing personal, nothing at all. But like if you like that's almost like saying because Nikki blazes the trail. She's she's a legend. She's been out like when you giving like how many like she's been in the game, and she's she's been through things and we got to see it and she she set a tone, she set a standard. She go, she all go. So I get it. It's honestly totally different. You've been both artists, nick and Cardi. Yeah, okay, yes, it's nicer to you. Everybody's real cool with me anyway, Nobody ever really like I met Cardi when she was still doing Love of Hip Hop. So I was doing radio that and she was like we was doing at the time. I mean not Baltimore because we was Baltimore. It was between we did Baltimore and I did d C. So at that time I think I was at k yes, okay, yeah, all right, um, major independent indie. But that's only because I was major before. So now what I would say, go major, learn the games, and go indie. I can get it with that, so I don't have to take no shot. Oh God Jesus like em. Like. The reason being because when I was in high school, I used to think I was like so bad. So once I met I was like yeo. I literally told I wanted to be you so bad. And the love song when you say you love me it don't you've been thinking to egantistical and just work. But what you say, I take none of this seriously and that's when we stipp the right out the world. You couldn't google it. So yeah, like empt like that's honestly one of my biggest this one. I don't know this is up in the end, all right, Kim or Foxy, honestly hold your shot. I'm gonna take it anyway. Yeah, because I'm a person, I go by my own opinion, and I would. I would, honestly, I'm gonna take my shot because I'm gonna say both because had it not been for them, there would not be a lot of females that are doing with it. Like what Kim did, the crouching posted people. Oh my god, Yeah, she broke down barriers. That was that was like there was a no no back then, like, oh my god, you're trying to do She broke down barriers when she had her booball at the MTV Awards Mesa Stalda. Oh my god. This is course a controversy. It's always controversial when a black woman does it, but it's so chic and cool and acceptable when other races do it. So she broke down racial barriers that we wasn't doing. Foxy was spitting like a nigger when she came out. Girls wasn't spitting like that. Like I go back and listen to her over she was going to win. So I respect that she was in high school. Goddamnken for that, God damn South. So you gotta respect it. Let's tell us something right must be admitted in the game, right. I had Tyler Quality stand here. I was sitting the same chair that you're sitting in. Ty Live said to me one time, he said, sometimes we're male privileged, And I had never heard of that. He's had male privileged and he said, mal, well, basically what male privileges we don't understand sometimes what the sisters go through. We don't understand what women go through and hip hop and the music business and entertainment period. So can you shot something light on people? Like, let's just say we're just coming under a rock. We don't know nothing. What are some of the things that you're gonna have to face as a female in this entertainment. First of all, if I would have came here and I had a makeup on, it's just anything. If I would have came here, my nails wasn't done, or at least dress night. This just wore anything, really like, so it's a standard. And honestly, I just think that literally wore anything today, literally literally literally literally did that. So I'm sorry, holy ship y'all, but really, women, we as a as a black woman, So you mean to tell me you judged all day like you can't go to if you can't go to Dwayne Weed without Well, thank god for the mass mandate, because if we don't have to wear masks, they would expect you to wear a full beat and be slain and snatched. The whole pandemic like in the airport, how they made the whole bonnet controversy. That's the wind rags all the time. It's not for a female, do rag? You mean? Sometimes I run out with my bond and I'll be like, oh my god, I forgot, but I don't want my edges to be laid. Like literally before I pulled up, I took my star for because I'm like, if I go in there with this one, if somebody sneak a picture, they go out this a bit just anything. So people just say whatever they want about females. Males have the privilege they don't have to go to sound check I'm pretty, and they're not allowed to. Like now it's a standard where you know a lot of people they want to walk around bust down from the risk to the to the to the ripped up like now everybody want to look esthetically, you know. Correct for women, if you just had a baby, they expect you to day because us there are certain people just like, damn, how she have a baby and she don't even look like it. Let you come out and have a baby and a year later your body is still holding onto that weight or that stressing, that postpartum and you have a breakdown. This crazy everything will be held against you as a female in this industry. And I can attest to that because I've I've dealt with it. I have social media. I ever got on your your nerves where it's like you didn't want to, you didn't want to. Is there any like a room whatever spread through social media that wasn't true that got to you. I used to I used to realize that I would react to everything. I think. It's my Napoleon comparens on what they gotta do. Is I accept all? And I think my service like yeah, because I know what I'm sure. I always know that my personality has to be big. So when I enter the room, I'm just like my whole way is T'm gonna get out this motherfucker. And I have like a you know, like you have a walk in someplace, you'd be like, I don't know what the vibe gonna give. I already knew what it's gonna give it head like family. But there's places I go I'm like like, like what is given? So I don't know what I'm gonna have to do with sometimes to be higher places, but you don't know who y'all lying you. This is real, like people trying to get you there just so they could claim, or they'll pay you to come somewhere just to be on some bullshit or they're paying, they're just like, yeah, we're gonna keep on pushing it back, like not the fun. I have an O C D complex as well. It's like if I'm late, I literally have a mental break that they'd like, calm the funk dead, like stop acting like that. But I realized I've learned how to overcome some of my insecurities what they call them. But I just like, no, it's just certain things that I've dealt with all my life. So it's just like scorp that novem me pup draking and people people think that we're weird. We're just missundersmelling you come out all right, you don't like noc is. I just feel that everybody wants to be a Scorpio because we think four people. So I've never got into anything or seeing anything on the internet. They're one things that I've seen and I'm just like, I don't even go with that person no more deal with them. So it'd be all something. I'll be a people like, yeah, well what about that time. I'm like this, that was two years ago? You still thinking about I don't had a whole another I have a whole another life now, like, and I know that people love to live in the past, but they don't want I don't live there no more. So if you're still there, then you know I'm not there anymore. So I used to react to everything. People would say something. I'd be like, bitch, we'll pull up sinnaty, we hunt you damn. And that's weird because you say that to people. Yeah, yeah, you gotta stop that. Yeah, I was wilding out, but honestly that's when I was get high. So you mean, so you telling me there should be people on Twitter. I'm assuming Twitter slash greatest place on Earth because like you can use it for the whole school on there. It was this one girl said something and I because that I come from jokes like yeah, and then the whole school jumping, and I was just like yeah, but look at this bitch that go to your school. I just kept on pulling that one thing I've learned, it's like when you're getting it. I'm around all comedians a lot from Cat Williams, like just to certain people, so it's like that's all we do is joke. But I realized that people can't take a joke and those people they don't know what. Let me just tell you, you're also petty. I am, yeah, because I'm a petty president and you described he just cribed a lot. But I've learned, so you so yeah, what y'all used to call it jonah joking cracking snap. Yeah, so we're snapped. So I'm thinking that, oh, if they follow me, they know what I'm giving. They know with vibal on. So when I realized people are getting offendsed like why would you say that? And I was just like damn, like they was in college. I don't never best with nobody kids. I don't play with people kids. I don't even play with my own Like it's your certain levels. You know what I'm saying. But if you're on the internet and you come for me and you're a kid, I would like put your mother on the phone because if my child did that, I'll be like, don't you disrespect? Nor don't I'll play that I don't like that. That's where I joined the line. But you never know who's who behind that, but you could pretty much tell when they try to say something corn of your kid, you feel me. But I had to get out of that because that's like a defense mechanism, which I realized was a part of my complex because I always felt that I had to defend myself. So I realized, stop, you know, reacting to everything ignored. Why do you can't you feel me? Because if you're pre social media, you're gonna yeah. Because like we literally, me and Missy who were sitting in the studio, we used to joke like all day. That was as soon as we get there, we're working between but it was just like I don't know this, Nick ain't got don't know goddamn so and it was just like just keep going and going. We would joke for hours but begin to to hit records time. So that's what I was used to. So when I thought I was sharing my personality, I realized people were taking it personal. And that's where you know, you gotta learn how to join the line and realize everybody and your friend and every but everything ain't funny noise. You guys are far too fine. Was hot boys came? Boys drop them before? Yes, it was like literally it was like a domino effect. Okay, once we did hot boys didn't put it on? Everything came Okay, So how does how do you get this call for put it on me? Is it seven? Will call you? Rules? Call you? Okay? Described the score and I was in I was in Baltimore, Baltsmore in North Carolina. I was somewhere and um, I got the call. Was just like listen, his albums already done, so I had already. Did I cry? You did? I cried first? Yes, the album was done, the album was even. Put It on Me came out first. Put It on Me was already on the album. But the word and the way that I got it was like, um, after they did. I think the song. I think it was every little thing that we did. I think it was that one um the big records, and I think DMX was coming out. It was like def jam used to be a machine, but if you ain't selling soon amount, they will drop or shield your ask. Because here's how I kind of kind of thought of it, and um, you tell me every little thing that you do was out before Putty put it on me. Yeah, okay, I didn't remember that. I can't tell you that. So that was that was a single that was running around him and Christine a million, But I guess it was what it was. It was. It was like dying down and so IRV was just like, yo, I need you for this record. The record is done, but you know I need you to come up with that right track. Studio. There was the engineer, I said, everybody get out. There was the engineer. Young girl. You know what that you know what it is? Young girl? A little girl. Yeah. I went in there and I literally didn't write anything down. I started. I would take me from the top and I'm gonna work my way down. So I started off with the intro and I sang it between and like I literally did it like homework. I started from the top. See me to tell me when you walk in the studio, they don't have this already laid off for you know. They didn't tell me what to say, what this thing that was for you? Yeah, a lot of people, but that's how I work. Is just like play me something or play me a beat. I'm gonna do what I do and I'm gonna leave. I'm gonna kick everybody out the room because when I'm in my space and then in my zone and I know that it has to be a hit record. Like Missy told me that too. Don't let nobody in it because if you were working as a school teacher, if you work at scientists, yeah nobody can stand on. But some people are having a million people in there. In my anxiety, I'd be like, can y'all please get out? Because of my message? Why I like that having a million people that I started writing rhymes in jail, you know what I'm saying. So, yeah, it's horrible. Um, yeah, so I was used to noise. I was used to like you know, like what I don't know if you ever seen Malcolm Max said he used to sit down and look at the light and he would read. I would do that too, but I would read to write rhymes. But if you at jail at night when you're writing rhymes, it's the most awkwardest sounds every but it's chaos. So you're here, dude, oh miss my mom, you're here due jerking off and you like like like Yeah, it's just created so many It's so so I got used to And first off, I used to had the right rhymes to the radio station. I didn't have beats in jail, so I would hear a radio station, I would have to write my room over over you. So I got so used and accustomed to that that if I have peace and quiet, I'm not at peace and quiet I needs because if I hear something, I'm like, what's going on over there? I can't focus. But I've learned how to focus, but I don't want nobody in there because if I mess up, I just feel like I'm shrinking. So it's just like, you know, literally less, it's more for me, And it's crazy it happens. You got the right track and corner studio with the gold door because Guro had his own room. So I literally had to do the song that day. And then they scared me because they was just like, Okay, well you can't leave yet because Leo's coming. Wow. And I had met Leo previous to that because I was gonna sign a def jam. Tina Davis and Kevin lost Davis an empire right now, Kevin, now that you're still on the elector at this time. Yeah, yeah, I was on the lecture at that time. But um, I remember Leo came in and he was standing there. He was just like like, you know, he's he doesn't give you expression or emotion. He's man of little to very little emotions. Yeah, he was like, this is a like I'm just like a man. That was it. And literally once we recorded the record, IRV was ahead of the game whether dem jam was gonna prove it, approve it or not. He was already on the sky Tell texted all the p ds, I'm about to send your record. So during mixing then we sent it out, he was like, you ready to be the funk out of here. I'm ready to be the fun. And after that the floodgates open. So Hot Boys already introduced me to the world, put it on me, gave me the world. So wow, that's that was hard. So so at one point you and Jabu had some discrepancies, right, is that before I cried? You know, you say I cried was recorded prior to that. But I think I seen you on one or six in part one, right, and I think it was a G unit type of thing, and I think you kind of I'm correct. Already sounds crazy. Um, and I think what you accused him of was you said that they didn't pay you for the record, so they didn't pay you for the video or something like that. I don't remember what it was for anything. Wait, wait a minute, what not even publishing them? I later got two point five later. Yeah, you have to fight for it. Yeah, okay, but that's why God makes some mistakes. Yeah, so I did the record. The album has already done. Put it on me, I cry, Okay, I cried. It's cool that I got my right percent. Put it on me once I'm taking off it had it had did some many weeks on one of six in Park at number one. People were accusing because they said, def jam be paying for number one, but they were like, no, we can't fake a number one here because you have to actually call in and they have to tally like with the radio station when you get requests, you have to literally keep a log of it or if you could get in trouble. So we would number one so much that they had brought us on to retire the record, and I wasn't trying to time. I don't I think we would have first soldier boy, we was the first to retire record. That was when we retired. We literally had to retire because people were other labels and people were complaining like, how can we can never get number one? Just like nobody wants your record to be y'all are not getting that many calls. So I'm thinking I was thinking, like, oh, this record been out, that check gonna be crazy. I'm gonna have as Martin would say, whoo woo whoa woo who And when it wasn't a woo woo whoo whoa, I had began to inquire and I'm just like, well, what's up. I didn't charge your fee for it. I drove up there on my own dime, this and that. But what I see now is is if you don't handle your admit, that's when I'm really strict. And the label, well, the independent label that went now the Faculty Music Group, we're real ship, Like we'll have the song literally, I have the song on my phone, but until we get the clearances and the splits are agreed and all the paperworkers right this record, You're kid the light of day because you have to be. You never know what song will be out of here or you know what I'm saying, and I didn't handle my paperwork. But after that I learned to like, oh, yeah, I'll sing on your record and I won't even charge your feet, but i'll charge your higher percentage and higher points. So just get me on the back end. That's what that means. She's just like, what said the three points? Then it just give me four maybe fact which the long periods. Yeah, yeah, because a lot of times people are trying to give you advance or artists stipend or you know, a fee, and then they don't want to give you. Yeah, be like, no, I can't be bored. So what exactly happened that Park thing? What was what was being said? If my memory sold me correctly, I remember we were introducing a video and at the end of whatever it was, I just said, g unit, and I didn't know they was gonna keep it. I thought the mix was off, and they kept it, and I realized, ship, here we go. But let me just give the backstory. I didn't honestly know the premise of what was going on between them, but but you didn't know it was at odds. I didn't know how serious it was because before I did put it on me before I did I cry. I did Somebody's Gonna Die Tonight for the Romeo Must Die soundtrack with Dave bing Bank. Dave bing b I n G. And he was he was with Murdered eight. So that's how I got to be a Roman. So anytime that movie plays like, I'm just like whoa. The admin was great on that, so I thought everything would be right. But it was something that happened at the video set and I remember see, I know fifty before he did have to row and went went around that top. My whole boy, Barry, we was right and songs in my whole voice. Uh. He had a joint South in Jamaica States. So we wrote a song called gay Yeah. Right by the way. It used to be a white Castle right there. So we was writing a song called fro Gayzy. And this was before he was shot, and so he'd be like, this is my homie fifty yo, he's about to blow. He got a better fact he just had did how to rob it. I'm just like, yo, you dope. We did songs on the spot and after that the situation happened, and you know, I wasn't never involved. One thing I realized is don't get in grown men's beef. Be a lady. I knew that enough, so when stuff was happening, I'm thinking, oh, that's just industry stuff. Ain't nothing gonna happen, but it was real. So I had inserted myself and something that I had really no business and I said something I think on Hot ninety seven one time that I used to fill in for starring Buck Wild and I filled in and I said something, I did three things you should never do against uh. I think it was like whatever it was I said, and the last thing was never ever put out a disc record against I think it was somebody had tried to dis eminem and fifty whatever it was. And I got a call from Mona Scott and Chris Lidy and Sylvia Row was just like, be a lady, don't join in the men's beause that don't have nothing to do with you. And that from there, I was just like, all right, bad because I thought it was, you know, industry beat that we labels are being cohoes, and be like, all right, it's gonna but now we're getting get to a port where it's just like, this is stuff that don't have nothing to do with the industry and you don't have nothing to do with you mind your damn business six super six. So I still got some of the mom left. How thin and J fix that because here you go, you got this great relationship cry and then there's one or six and Park thing happened. But what it was crazy, Like I think what it was was before the one or six and Park things happened. I remember we was, I was touring with them because you know, as an artist, sometimes in the apartment your cutting you off. As an artist, sometimes we don't know what the laby do and don't do, like you know, I'm saying so like when I when when I saw that, I immediately knew. I was like, I don't think she unders she understands how busy he is that he's not even paying attention. So once there ever a conversation like you calling job prior to that and saying, you know what, they didn't pay me on this, you know, once I realized he didn't even know. Okay, you know, and I realized that, but he even put out a disk record on me and yeah, I did a who shot you? I was like, I did that? Who shot you? Like? Yeah, I was I was saying so crazy stuff because I used to really want to be a rapper, but I just could say. So it was just like, oh, y'all think you're gonna talk crazy about me. You must not know my hand an orange jumper. You know this is a piece from my ps. So because didn't you'll do to the video on Baltomore, I cry, yeah, we did that in Cherry Hill. That's like hood like it was a shootouts soon as we left, but like a fourteen year walking We got y'all like, wait, he has a gun? God, whose kid is this? You know what I'm saying. But that's when I was just like Baltimore really had my back. But before that, it was just like I'm just running around hyped up doing shows. And I was like, wait, I mean, I know you're paying for flight in the hotel, but put them. But what I'm gonna tell you this, nobody ever knew this. They would saying that they were just on promo. So me, promo is just like, okay, I'm out promoting my single. We're not getting paid, We're just getting travel stipment just by accident. Um booking agent sent me his deposit by accident. Wait, okay, who are you talking about again. Okay. So obviously when they're saying you're on promo, it's not y'all saying you on promo. Promo continued, that's what they were telling my management. So one day I get a FedEx and I opened it up and the joke was for like it was was it was advanced for like four shows, so it's like fifty, so that means he was getting twenty five the show out and this is a check or this is okay. So I'm getting phone calls and they're like, hey, I think we know I called them, and I'm just like, uh, I gotta check here, but it's not to me what y'all post is sent me something else because this is fifty dollars advanced for four shows, and the show four shows a hundred thousands. Where's my? Like, where's my? I called them, you're doing shows for free nine but your bus is taken care of, flights were taken care of hotel, and for d M. You said okay, yeah, but I was singing two songs and I was performing my heart out. So the agency called me back and was just like, wow, we've never had this mistake in all the time we've done bookings? Can you avoid it and send us a copy? I avoided it and I sent them. It was like, your honesty is what's gonna keep you in this industry. And I was just like, let me call and see. So y'all are getting paid for shows. There ain't none of your fucking business day And I'm just like, a who's saying that's none of your business? I spoke to I don't know who. At that time, I had a different manager, so I'm just like it was like yeah, so then she speaks to whoever, and they just like, well, we had already had a show book that I remember. I think we were in the Chicago at the labor and I was like, well, y'all don't have to come no more, say no more. One thing about me is if I feel uninvited or you tell me, I ain't gonna come to there no more, I ain't showing up like I'm not gonna beg nobody. That's a scorpion on me. I'm not begging you for ship, but I'll sleep outside for I beg you to come inside. It's just certain things. That's my that's my project. You're telling me. Someone from murder Ache said well, that's what the management came back and told me. It was like we were we were in the middle of the Airport's like, well, y'all can go home. But it wasn't my fault that y'all were getting paid. We weren't told. So we were doing MTV Spring Breaks, BT spring Blinks, doing all of these shows, and I'm just like, damn, like, I'm thinking the bad gonna run up. I still got bills. I still you know, So at the end of the day, that's when it's doing to me when Silver Roon said, these a lot of motherfucker's ain't your friend. So I stopped going on the road, and then it was it was it was a hiatus between me and John talking because it went from us being like brother and sister too. You know what, I'm just gonna just be brother and sister with the people that I know that ain't never do nothing shady. But then I later realized it you honestly don't know who it is or who it was, but um, how did we reconcile? I think, uh, we got a show together, and it was just like, damn, like, you know what, I saw his kids getting bigger, and I'm just like damn, Like I was there when when all these kids and my nephews and my kids were big, we want to go with ya route? How did we let this industry coming between that? My nephew literally he just turned like I don't want to stay in your I want to go with y'all rule, and he would literally come get my nephew so he could go chill with them. And I'm like, oh damn, but you know they're they're smoking merry reply. But it was just like, you know, how did we let anything come between that? Like we was? We was, you know, we was tight. So I'm like, you know what, whatever I said, I apologize because I really didn't know what was going on, And maybe you don't know either. I'm almost sure I don't know. I've never asked him, but I'm almost sure me knowing him, he didn't know as an artist, Like as the artist, yeah, was crazy. And then I realized that was having ecstasy days days I was, and I was one of the ecstasy hands. I was running around. So it was just like, Okay, we're thinking people that are in position are gonna handle our paperwork and do stuff. But just looking back, I was just like for me and my soul for me to have to put it at rest, because I don't understand how somebody could beef all their life, like if you want to take that to your grade and we don't know what's gonna happen in the after life. If you have to literally stand before a law or God or whoever you sir, and they say, the only thing that's keeping you from having everlasting life or perfect peace is because you're holding an art against somebody that really, if your life, them or property ain't in danger anymore, why are you mad at this person? It's just like, you know what, it wasn't affecting none of my business on my hits, I was affecting it. So I got to the point where just like yo, I apologize because I ain't made that ship I was. I was, I was had, I was one of them days. It's my career could have been on that could have been anything. And I was talking ship. But I'm honestly, I'm one of the first R and B artists to talk ship like I be talking to niggas. I don't know where that came from, but I think it's my accomplice. I really would talk ship to niggas. I'm gonna tell you something. I was on the tour. I think with Job, I was gonna talk with Job, not I think with I was gonna talk with Job. And one of the illiest moments I've ever seen in my life was him looked to the crowd, let's say, I want you all to say I cry, and then this crowd say you cry, and then this crowd said we cry, and then and then he didn't even say, we're gonna say that part together. And he came out there and he was like and then he just went like this, and I said, I need that ship are on the stadium. And I looked and I said, Holy motherfucking do you know how big? Because I don't put it on me when he when uh the end song? That where what? Or I don't even have to when you have a hit record, you don't even have to sing it. What I do is like, all right, we're just gonna go to this part and y'all know what to do. And I literally stand it and people sing it to the top of the loans that it's an anthem or world. It's the best feeling in the world. And that's what I realized. I had to let some ship go because when you know your part is the one that people love, run with it to this day. To this day, that's people people have message me and we're like, turn out the record. DJ, y'all ain't got little most part playing. I'm like, what y'all do? They was like, why the fund do a part of or a version of putting on Me exists without more? I'm like, well that was on the album. They later strike it on the album. Yeah, but people like I don't want to hear without you. So it's just like I realized it was something in my voice or that my gift made room for me that when you hear a song without me on it, you don't want to hear it because it don't it don't make you feel nothing. But we don't from you. When did you film that video? App? And I think West Palm Beach or Florida. You're supposed Sami Miamiami. But I was because I remember that whatever it was, I believe it was West Palm Beach. I know that once the sun goes down, the town shuts down. So they were like, we gotta get this shot. Hip. It was like, we gotta get this shot because it's like an all rich there's another side of well we wasn't that something? That's what all the people they said, it's rich retirees. And at six o'clock the city shuts down and you have to be at your house or is your birthday? How when I when I when I always um be interviewed somebody, I go to Twitter because Twitter is like the most evilest place on the planet, but it's also like the most smartest place on the planet. For Twitter is And when I said, anybody got questions for a little mode, they said, how does she feel that? She basically put fabulous on? That's what they said. Yeah, everybody always asks why why why? Why do they Why do they think that? Do you think that? Well? I know that before we did Superwoman, he was like all the mixtapes, but that was his first radio record. Yeah, that was his firsts over hit record. And he was also signed to a lecture at that time too, because a little bit after wait a minute and it does the storm got the deal or whatever, they labeled to a lecture, but he had clue had all the mixtapes a lock and because it's a Superwoman to the remix career, because it was a Superwoman War one and that's what I went too. I had did the Beatie Seagull beat and I can't wait to see that battle anyone. We're talking about that later you might jumped out. Got to call him. I had a drink to that because when that's what I was like, Oh, it's uh yeah, beach like that's what super dues stop chill d I used Brian Michael Cox did that beat, so I did you ain't got to look up in the sky parts and Jamada Price like this ship is a hit, but we sent it into a lecturer and it was just like the song is too cocky. I'm like, I mean Superwoman part one because I was like basically saying, you ain't got to look at these chicken heads. You ain't gonna look anywhere else. There's a difference between me and these girls. And he was like, well, we don't want anybody to get offended or think that you're taking shots to them. I was like, I don't even know nobody in real life but Missy Elliot and I'm not talking about her, like, are you kidding me? So um, I'm I did Supermoman Part two. I was in l A with Clue working on the record because we had did songs with B two K like Cluing Up, Cluing Durer produced. So you heard that young girl? We didn't. We did, uh someone a girl artists that was on dream Works because they cut checks. Her name is Canela Cox and we had Spielberg record LABA and Dreino was cutting checks. He was from l a. Hen Street'd be like, I want fifty thousand for a song and then motherfucker, don't even come out. Hey, I don't care day checks. We were doing the sing and we were doing the song and the session was over. There was two hours left, but Clue had to get back to the East Coast for his Monday like mixtape and I was selling and I was like, you got we ain't wasting this two hours and we ain't just sitting up here. So I was like, hey, play me a beat. He played me the Superwoman beat. He was playing beats. He was like, I think you should do something like this, and I was like, I don't like when people tell me what you do. This is Clue. He's playing beats. So he plays a beat and it was just and I was like, I want that because that's so that sound is so annoying. I want to annoy people. But when I put my vocals over it, that she's gonna go out. He was like, I can't give you that beat, sist that's for m O p wa wa w Did MP have a version of it already day beat because way too fastn't do a remix already with And I was like, how about some wrong? This is so great, This is stuff people would never know any more Woman Superwoman, far too original beat for that song was made for them for m O p Oh you killed like you said, you killed this so much, I can't even think about. And trust me, m O p I'm a big Emo PI fan, but now that I hear what you did too, I can't even was crazy it was. It was literally just and the beat was dope, dope what I sang over soda every day. I sang that there was no chords and no key, so I had to sing that. When I told him, I said, drop the music, tell me how many beats per minutes? So I duro edit it out, but I would have to. I was like, ever every day I was snapping my fingers singing that, and I had to stack my vocals so we later had some producers, not producers. Some musicians come in and play the bridge, the strings and then act those keys are So if you hear the original beat to when it became the TV track, you'll be like you could tell I was around Quincy Jones and them because I've seen before. But when the way from your clause, No, but it was just like it was for m O P. So I did the song and I sent it to Clue. We had the Delta dashes. This was the craziest when you and Fab on there. Okay, So the thing is was with Fab, I'm always listening. I used to be a mixtape head, and Clues like, who do you want to get it? Because by that time I had worked with Missy job J. Everybody knew my name. Who you want to get on it? I was like I could have had I could have had m Op on it or anybody you know. And I was with a lecture, so it was it could have been a check, but my budget was basically tapped out, which means that I still had money on the back end, but I didn't want to use all the money because I knew they were yet by that. But it was just like listen once we put us out. Yeah, I know they're gonna be like I knowing mixing is gonna be gonna absorbed that. So I know jay Z is gonna chrge a hundred thousand dollars, Mrs gonna trge to me to dollars and was gonna try me far disrespect for taking their record. So they already knew that they had that record. Well I don't find out now. So um Clue was like, so, who you want to get on the record. I think it would be dope with a rap. I said, the boarder speller's name or all your records. He was like Spins. I'm like yeah, I'm like he's dope. He was like, oh, that's easy. Text him and bab and he was with Um. He wasn't with he was with Webb and Chayo. Him and Webb came to the studio with yellow dude rags or chicken boxes and the sky tell pages. So I'm thinking, like he's gonna come in there being this business. So I don't know what chicken boxes is chicken like, it comes in a box with chicken, the French fries. I want real chicken boxing. They came in there with food me thinking in the mi and said, Rabbit Spelling's day. I'm think he's gonna coming there with all these slick rick jewelry's on and wailing out. He came in with just him, yellow do rags and chicken and I believe maybe Street Fair kid. It was like, I'm just like, oh yeah, don't come here with a hundred people. So I'm just like, so you're ready to do your podcasts, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna let you do your thing. He's like, I'm ready, Okay, let me move out your way. So we were at right track. I leave out. So he comes back like a couple of minutes later, so I'm like, you're finished. He's like yeah, so before we push, but I hope you don't mind. I did a little something in the intro, and I did something at that Oh, so you're just working above and beyond. So soon as I heard something like he was like little oh, I was like, oh my god. He spelt my name after so he was like, I guess I ain't got As soon as I heard his voice and what he said, I was like, you've got to be I guess I ain't got no reason. The men go around. I found a superwoman that could leave from the truck in a single bound. Mommy, I'm trying to bling you down. Something was about shades on the kids when I bring you and she put her lips on the weeds, still put it to work her tongue and made me come faster than the speed and bullet my love stronger than our locomotive. But only for that so that where he's like, oh, here go to the impart. So I'm like, where does it coming? Then after the bridge and he was like, the superwoman might have saved my day to KOs that would have gave some play. Now he wouldn't even wave that way. I understand why the mother she's behaved that way. They see the icy yes in your chest and grave and great be whipped the mike because usually with them things he type, but only greeny keep from me is Krypton knit the way that blew a red fitting on your hips. So right, I'd be like damn. I was like where wat excited, like how did you? I didn't even have to say, well, maybe you should tighten it up, and I was like we added here a lecture. Didn't want to put out the record because they didn't feel like nobody knew who he was, so clue played on his mixtape, and then after well the Money Night Makes tape on High ninety seven, he just kept on going up to and after that there was oh my god, this record is a smash. So I literally saw him go from them. We had a basically one commercial commercial because it went from what was jar Roule calling me? I swear to god, who I did not answer the phone? Jar hold a little more chilling man just up here talking about the good old days. Had we mirrod him back from you know what I'm saying, There was a time where we went from the top and then we went through something. But you know what I'm saying, it got to the point where we get older and you get wise and you realize I took accountability and apologize for just jumping in something that ain't have nothing to do with me. I love you well, you know what it is. We got a dream chance moment won two three. Oh you know you know Norri sup tides, I'll be getting round of the shopper. Ain't got really nothing? Yeah, yeah, yeah, we we always do, man, we always do. Well. That's there's a part of being our job. Our job is consistent, fucker. You know what I mean. I was calling you, hey man, hey man, I'm going this is when I ain't up on you right now. I'm gonna hit you back it just by the way. We're gonna address the beach later. But let's can pretend you on so, um where was you? Boom now superwoman? First of the mercial record for so so Yeah, the first commercial record for five and you know I was just playing them around but put them on. But a lot of people say that because um, as I tweeted out today, UM, I wish I do with every guest, especially guests that I want to know a little bit more about. I'll say, yo, you got a question, question too, and I sweeter to god, I can show you on my Twitter Like it was like if I had fifty seven messages, at least thirty of them was like yo, hotest little more field. Um that that she was responsible for the world noticing Fab? Is that something that, Um, your fab ever have a discrepancy? Like you ever tried to get him back on the record or and it wasn't no, no, not, because it's like it's never been a discrepancy. And he'll even say he said in interviews, like Moe gave me a chance, you know what I'm saying, and then that opened the door. He's done records with m JB J. Low, everybody, like he's worked with everybody, and they opened the door. So it's just like Missy did that for me. So the way you have longevity in this industry is you put somebody in position. You keep putting people in a position. So because because it didn't stop there, so it's like now a lot of the young artists that are coming back. Yeah, so you do good, good gonna come back. So whatever you put in the atmosphere is gonna gonna return. So it just didn't stop there. But Missy did that for me. But there's a lot of times I would say, but basically, well we did after that, we did Can't let You go forever, Like we have so many records together, it's like we have a whole I honestly know that we wanted to do like a like a like a collaborative album, and I know he was like, def Jam wasn't with it. I was like, man, let's do it ourselves. But now we have the opportunity to have the opportunity to do it. Yeah, so it's just like it is what it is, but those fans are from the album. Just literally set le brated twenty years on June. So twenty years honestly having my first album out and he was a part of that. We got two decades congratulating. Here's something I do want to ask you, right because when we googled and we kept googling, we didn't expect that you don't have a song with John Rule with me on my album? Is that that is true? Yeah? Yeah, I think after like the whatever happened with the fallout, we never but we we have records that never were released. Okay, so it was like, yeah, we had records that were never released or I think it was just because he was honestly the most dominant artist and they there was a time when Murder Inc. Was a machine, like you was not permeating their goals. Yeah, it was that. So now once I'm indeed I have that like when you can't you can't get in, you can't get in. There was a stop spelling bees and everything. So it's just like, I know, you couldn't you couldn't cut through. They had a run. You wasn't putting you wasn't cutting through like Earth had that ship or a lot Deaf Jam had that ship on a lock. So it's just like, if you was trying to do a female and a male song, you wasn't. If he put out someone a female in the male, you wasn't. You wasn't beating him. He mastered the game. He had all the PDS names and numbers in his phone, and he made them feel important because he would be like here going to record the label because they're gonna move that. They paced, So it was just like he was always ahead of the game. So whenever their declination came in at where you know, things started, you know, falling apart, I don't. That doesn't have anything to do with me because at the end of the day, I was never signed to murder any So it's just like you know that, but you are right, I don't have any songs with him, actually want I just think that once me and Fab started doing records together, just like a missing him at certain people's chemistry that even though you could have hits with other people, it's just certain people's chemistry that surpassed that. Because yeah, so um, now we got this music is being handled. But now you do love a hip hop first, right before before you get electorate, you did something ODB. Yeah whoa oh man, rest in peace to him. So I did good Morning Heartache. We made that and he specifically told Sylvia because he had a relationship with Sylvia that was uh like they was like homies. So he was like, I want to get that girl on the record, the girl that he's singing stuff. So I'm thinking, like, this is od B because he's a singer inside like you can tell he was Yeah, but you're coming from growing up watching Wu Tang and you see O d B. You thinking that, oh my god. Like honestly was afraid to go to the session because I'm like, I hope you don't be in there acting weird because od B respecting ship out you like everybody's like if he's if you delete. I was in a the session and he said, do not rewind, delete or do do exactly what I told you to do because sometimes engineers get comfortable, and he started doing stuff. He said, did you record. I've seen him walk out of a session where they recorded over his vocal and he left. But he would have people bring his reels in. They would be on in Dolly's and he'd be like, go to track, go to real or Real number three and they would find it. He would always come in with the sessions with his reels. So we recorded that at the Hit Factory, and I was so scared of going there and sing where he was like, going there and sing how you sing? Don't worry about what I do or what anybody else has done before, you do what you do. So I did good Morning, how they Can Sing? And he sat there, he was dancing in front of the board like this, and I'm like, wow, I wonder if he likes it not and they was like, no, he loves it. And it made the album. So that was actually a dream come true because I was will Tang forever the world. I've I've never worked before, I don't. I think that was a fear of mine because you know why, because people they fell just do like You're so like, well, what what what? They just think that he was the Neptune, but people didn't know that he was writing for s w V. So I was scared back then, and I don't think my budget was healthy enough for him. But we hosted a UM Hot ninety seven flow like years ago for the Puerto Rican Day Parade and we was on that. He was just like, yo, you really can say. And then after that we just was cool. And every time I'm saying, I'm like, what do you be drinking? And what do you take? How do you keep looking? I was like, did you join the Luminous? But he was just like, na, just a favor over my life and just honestly after that, like he's just a cool individual. He never ages, he never liked yeah, yeah, I want so so boom. Now we move on to the reality show. Oh yeah, so what made you say? All right, cool, let me go to reality from here? And then not only reality, but you went to New York, which is like going back to your roots. It's like going back home a little bit, well maybe even a lot of it, um going back home, but um, you know doing this? What made you do that? Was it a Mona call? Because, like you said, it was it was violated as well. But I was rocking with Mona before violated because when she won't actually with Missy like she was the one who said up everything, so she we've just been rocking out since the beginning. But I had did R and B Divers before that, so I was realized that that music is changing and you might think you lit, but it's a whole new world out there. And reality TV was the way. So I did R and B Divs of l A and then I got the call for Loving Hip Hop. Yeah, it was directly for Mona because it was just like, hey, I see you know you're working on some stuff and do you want to tell your story? And because you know people know you, this would be a great way to push with what you got going on. And this is after you you have radio? Yeah, because I said I did radio my daughter b nineteen. I was pregnant with her when I did radio, So yeah, what made you do radio? Like because most artists, whose artists do, want to just keep sticking to the artist. Yeah, artists and singing. So what made you say at one point you know what? Uh? And I imagine you did it in your hometown at first, right, that was in Baltimore. The You Mention was a program directed there. So when I was like, I want to do the show, I used to watch Martin and I was like, yeah, I said, they know me up in here. And then but I was pregnant at the time and that was that's with my first daughter. And you know, in the industry back then, if you was pregnant, they didn't care, Like now you could be pregnant, busting it wide open, have the baby come back to the show the next day. Yeah, you because they didn't want you to be seen. So instead of sitting at home, I always I can't sit still, so I wanted something to do and they were like, well, do you have an air check? I'm like, what's that? Like? You made an hair check? They was like, well, when you've done ready before? Said well, I used to feel in at ready in New York on Hot Night the seven for everybody? So is that so? Tracy Clarity literally put in a good word for me and Jay Stevens and't thea Mitchell game your afternoon? So it was a little mo show and I was number one, Yeah, just by talking. But I had so many elements to the show. I literally patterned everything I did after Martin. So were Craig Cold people. We were like, it was really all around good show until one day defense the Fats showed up a radio shot. Did you do what happened? It used to be so much going on in Baltimore, So two things one day the cops showed up because remember the DC sniper, Yeah, that was the waffle house, the waffle house that he shot somebody I had just left. Don know what's crazy is the DC sniper used to go to a subway. It was the radio station right here, and it was a subway sandwich place he should go to every day. And it was like he was so polite. They didn't know he was the sniper, so like, oh my god, I could have got sniped. I met his wife, Okay, Okay, So I just felt like it was just a protective thing at that point whence they realized that he was in that area. And the second time they came was when the R. Kelly scandal had came out. Okay, hold on, because let's make sure if we go back to the R. Kelly scandal, because it's very important to me. Okay, um to you, it's very important to me. Caring mind, okay, okay, let's just be clear and were black? Yeah, we're black. You thought that D sniper was black at first? No, because that's not no black ship because he was sniping ship and he's sniping like, I don't know black brothers. You know that much time? So I was when the kid too, was a kid he was with. That was a kid, right, That wasn't his kid. He had taken him on. He was like fifteen, he was. He was the one sniping ship. The kid, the kid, he trained him. He tried to spers the guy on the on the joint and then and the real snipers latt two Latin two four the wind. They were doing some crazy ship. They do you living in bottom at the time. Sniper ship? Yeah, first people want a skid to go outside, like it was. I had a tour in the DMV at this time. I sweeter guard. I could prove it all okay, um, people get shot randomly in the station like people kep against like this. I was plump again, like I was like yo. I had someone driving me to said, some white people ship. What did you say? So at first people thought that some white people ship. Not only that, but you know it's a lot of military bases out there. He not. He did not pop no brothers. At first. He popped. At first he was popping white people, and then he just switched it on the brothers. And then when it was gonna condo black people, and then he popped the kid. That's when it was up. But my cousin was a sheriff in ah uh St Mary's County, and he was like, at first they could have been stopped it how because they have aerial stuff they see everything. But then once it got to the point where he started, it's almost like they the government could do anything because what you can control people by fear, then it's just like okay, because they have like certain exercises that they when they were reacting. But he really whatever was going on, he started invoking fearing the people to the point that nobody wanted to pump gas. Like businesses was suffering, and nobody knew what he was. Nobody knew what yeah, and nobody knew a car he was in. They just kept on saying, DC sniper, We have a composite sketch. Nobody knew he was going to subway and waffle house, and he was going the subway after he was sniping. We don't know if it was before, but nobody knew they would catch him sleeping at the rest stop and they truck blocking in. He didn't look like look snipers usually look sniper. He didn't had a dirty, scruffy sniper looked like his name was Keith. He'd be on the internet all sweat about to go at it. It's about to be a shot. You got you, Yeah, give me a shot. Let me tell you why, because it's about to be up. And then I'm gonna tell you who. I think between the sniper it was just like I was pregnant at the time. So once people stopped, it was scary because then it's just like, oh, this could be over here like here, yeah, It's like it got dangerous. And once he started going in areas that was Townson, that's that's a money areas tws O N. So when he started going into areas that he people thought he should be sniping and Baltimore like, that's that's messed up. But then when they had a composite sketch and I believe I don't know if it wouldn't, but he was. His preciseness was they was just like they never thought it was a black person. He was at military though, right, I believe so. But then when they found out that the young boy leave Maumo was sniping, he was like fourteen and fifteen, how do you teach my son is about to be How do you impression? How do you put an impression on someone that's not your own child to be like, I want you to go out here and we're about to change the game. And he never I don't think he ever physically abused his uh ex wife, because I did panels with her about domestic abuse and he was starting. But he never touched hard them kids. So they were trying to say wife, ex wife. They was just that's what that's what was the rule leg that he was mad at the ex wife because that's a terrible domestic that's I'm just like it was. It was crazy. So you you texted d C snaper wife sometimes like, no, not anymore. We did. We did up the podcast. So when I'm sitting up things like yo, the lady, that's the lady, that's his wife, And I'm just like, and I asked of off the record, I was just on something like, yo, did he ever pop out? Like but he would try to pop up at the sisters, her sister his house and threatened, but he never touched him. And I'm just like you, He's like, when you say pop out, what are you saying? Like like he was just shooting the desistance. No, he never he just showed up he was popping people that had nothing to do with anything. A bus driver, a kid, a lady pumping gas. He was understanding. He had an argument with his wife and said, I choose some other people. He didn't have no manifesto here. And the reason it had no It wasn't like he was the oldest child supporters through the roof. Yeah, so we don't know my wife, I kill mother and these kids. I think he gets to your sister. He just got He just everybody I think honestly has that breaking point. He was. That's serious. So like, is he wait they sniped him out right? I thought the kid definitely, but I think he's out now right, the kid is out. He was like four ship come on away in a minute something. But it was like when I say people in different counties were afraid to pump gas. Do you know how imperative it is to pump your gas? And then when you got to peek around and you don't know because nobody knew, they couldn't find the vehicle. No, nothing, country would scared everybody like were gonna start doing that. He was literally he never missed right. So once he killed that kid that was at the busy house, that he shot at the gas one of those joints. It was either guy s the waffle house. We were playing around because we had just seen the news. Huh did But the young kid he trying to get out because he was he was coerced m A l v O. So we were playing around, sweiteterguard. We're on tour, we're playing around as we like, not getting gas. I think she said that earlier, but I think we were like just using the bathroom or whatever, and was like, yo, watch'all, what'll the snipe? And we were playing with this, playing around the snipe. But we get to the hotel. You know how the tour bus ship that your to um the TV don't work when you're going on the highway and then once you pull up to the hotel and it falls up and we all just look at each other like he shot the dude at the same exact place we were playing like. We were just playing around, like yo, yo, let's get out of here. And we looked and I pulled up. I was like the whole ship like we just we didn't play no more from from that, but they make you think as an artist, like what if he was at the show. Yeah, Wow, damn that he definitely shot before the show. It was looking before you know, he was getting away because he didn't get caught after so he might have been at that motherfucker like it might have been turned them up this leg because because because in a snipe, because people think that snipers just snipe and then be just on a rampage like that. Right went to the Whitefire, was like, oh, nor over there, I might go check it out. I ain't got no tickets. I mean, I'm like, yeah, he might pop through to the last place they're gonna expect. They always do not Earlier, I heard you say you worked with jay Z? How was that? And on what area is jay Z? Is this? It's just possible up next year. Damn he getting out. They're gonna get him out. He's gonna do a story here. Yeah, that that's like mental abuse, like when you go through a program, for sure. But where was his parents? I always asked that, No, that wasn't the whole time, So where was his mom and dad? That's why I'm just like and every time I asked that, I get in trouble because people like, why are you write about where's people's parents? Said? Because my daughter is legally grown, and I can't even set up a point was they were like, well, we have to speak up first before we give you this information. So I'm just like, I'll be knowing. I need to know where these parents is at because I need to know when my kids is at all time. Because ship is real and you colact if you want to. But niggas is catching people slipping, and I would hate to be the like I don't know if maybe he don't know if he was like an adoptive son or maybe his godfather, But how did he get it? What matter? What did he say to him? That may be like you're going out here the Snipe ship, you have to be pretty persuasive and charismatic to be able to pull it off. I don't want nobody to have that type of power over my son because it's that easy. Period. So yeah, what were we talking about. I ain't gonna f d Sniper Gonna from Sniper's He's that, he's that but the kid but snipers out. So now marriage bootcap come to you? Oh yeah, because we were talking about loving hip hop but between because love and hip hop and marriage, Blue Camp was literally filmed almost simultaneously It was literally a couple of months after because because Mary's Bootcamp had to get clearance to from Love and hip Hop too, so he was already on a couple of seasons of Love and Hip Hop one season okay, and I was done. I did my bed and I was out. Let me get it. Yeah, goddamn god, I'm so marriage boot camp. I gotta ask you, Um, I believe it's your husband at the time, Yeah, because I'm not married no more. Okay, So this is this footage of him like face timing or being was that something that the show bowled off or that was this was? This was absolutely real? Because it was absolutely real real, It was absolutely real. And one thing because now I can talk about it because we couldn't talk about it before the show came out, so I had to fake the funk as if we were still together until the show actually aired. But that was back in nineteen So now I can talk about it. With that house, you're there for like thirty days, not thirty days or so like twenty eight days and anything after they say after things, you after tries, it's a habit, but when you're in that house for a week, it's almost I wouldn't say jail because I've never been to jail. But when you're in the middle of nowhere, you can't leave. There's little to no WiFi connection. You have to stand by where that actual scene was filmed because that's where the WiFi connection is. The house is a dead zone. And before you film, they keep you in the hotel. You can't leave out your room. They bring everything to you. You don't have no room key, you don't have no access to the outside world. It's mentally designed to break you down because then you get when your mind is broken down. It's a real boot camp. And they let you know that and you sign off. So I know what I signed up for, but when you sign up for it, it's just like you know what you're getting into. But I went back to what Mona says is, if you find out what is presented before you, and you find out that it is valid, what are you gonna do right? Because because how this happens right, because you will sleep At the time he was making I was gonna hold another side of the house as big as ships. You get lost in that motherfucker. And then sometimes they cut off parts of the house. They'll be like Oh you can't know. You can't come over here because they're setting up scenes like you'll be sleep and you wake up and it's a whole fucking carnival houseide. So with that, I was on the other side of the house. So is it a cast member who tells you this or is it the actual staff or production? It's actually dr being doctor Ish And I could say it now because they came to me off record, because when you're filling doctor who dr V that's the lady and Dr Ish. I just don't know the doctor Okay, dr Ish, but Dr V was the white lady, right, Okay, I remember that. Okay, they came to me. It was like, can we talk to you? And like when they say they can they talk to you? They take you in this white room and are you automatically thinking that they're trying to start drama or you believe they're not there to start Okay? Cool, they're they're honestly they want you to bring the druma. They know it's only a certain amount of time you can last before the dramas. Like people can sit up there and try to hide, but it's gonna pop out because they're mentally funk with you till you be like, oh ship. So I was in the house with Soldier Boy India Jessica Dime and her husband Tammy, and walk up and his girl was like, so I was a house with soldier boy, but that's like my nephew. So I literally got to see soldier boys. Time for you come to drink chats on me? Yeah, because I got to see everything that went down. So I've literally seen a lot of people grow up in the industry and then I got to live in the house with them. And seeing people in the industry and live with them is two separate things. So mentally, I saw everybody break down. And I'm not gonna put nobody's business out there. I'm gonna talk about me. So I know when my breaking fronts they came to you and they showed you the footage, or they take me to side and they bring me they bring they was like, can you come talk to us? And once they take you in the white room, you know what's up in the stuff? From there, they're gonna they're gonna that's when they film and they're gonna present you with some information because everybody you think you sneak it, but this could be a microphone. This could be a camera. Everything is a camera to the microphone. This could be a camera. So you sit up there, yeah, this'll bet they got you here. The house is strategically put together to catch your ass slipping. So unless you layter there like this and reading your Bible the whole time, your ask gonna get caught in some ship. So when it came to me they unfolded these papers, they was like, hey, you're good to that? Yeah, yeah, I'm good. What's going on? Because we're smoking helloween? Because you're going crazy out there. It's the middle of nowhere and you can't go nowhere. So they were like, we want to show you. I don't even know where this. They drive you there and you don't know where there because they'll stop, they pull over, and then you're getting the lambo and then you and you're like President, yeah, it's no address. You can't be like I'm gonna say my location. Ain't none of that going on, which they had a police out there. So I just remember them handing me some papers, which I still have to this day because I went through some old luggage and I'm like, god, damn, they unfold they send me these people. There's like, do you know who this is? I'm like, no, that looks like a dude. They was like, oh, it's a female. Because whoever it was. I was like, well, the face looks pixelized. What is it given? And they were like, um, are you the only person that your people was dealing with? I said, well, far as I know, Like how the fun I can't even call my kids hardy out here. I have to use y'all phones to check on my kids. They were like, well, we have reason to believe that he has someone else in his life, because he has someone in his phone saved this W two. I'm like, like as a tax phone, as in like woman number two, like a wo They said it would save that W two and I said, I do not know who. I was thinking W two or maybe two when they actually it was like, okay, you know how long i've been leagal I've been. I thought about straight lead and that's what I was taking. I was like, give you two. I was like, well, you know people on the East Coast they run scars. Maybe she funneling somebody in W two. Like we don't do W. We do T ninety nine. So I don't know who fun this is. So they okay, so we're gonna give you some time, and we're gonna give him time to let you know because we've already discussed this with him, so you never know what's going on. So they gave him Bamble enough time to say, listen, this is what I did. And they caught me slipping. But because we don't talk in the house, we're bringing notes and in the bathroom is the safest place where you can write but don't talk. So he has Yeah, they sent me on the phone with my sister that when I said I love you and she said she loves you back. They thinking somebody, all right, bet what I'm thinking about the picture, But that's only her sister. Okay, So now now I get into defense mode. So then they take us both into the white room and they're like, yo, so do you want did you have a chance to discuss what you He starts going off on the doctor. I said, set your ass down. Don't talk to a man like that, because you know if you hit them, you're getting prosecuted. Like it's a clause in there. If you touch one of them doctors, you're you're getting arrested. For us all and then and then you're getting kicked off and you're not gonna get paid periods like you you already know the vibes sit your ask there, why are you being so defensive? What the fun going on? We're in the middle of nowhere, and how the fun? But if a motherucker's gonna do what they want to do, they're gonna do that ship underground up in the air in the middle of nowhere, We're gonna do what they want to do. Boom. So I had to play it off at that point, and I'm just like, damn, like should I'm out here trying to fix the situation. But I realized that situation even though it's marriage, but can't. I went in to fix myself because I already knew what the fun was going on, and I knew what the funk was hitting for. But I needed to face the reality that I was allowing my brand to be compromised. I was allowing my integrity to be compromised, which my dad told me never compromising integrity. I was allowing my personal space to be compromised, and I was by mental emotion to no physical, spiritual everything was compromised. So I needed those twenty eight days to break me down, because once I get out of this, I'm up and it's stuck. And then, you know, we've been saying that for years, what's up? It's up for you when it's because you know when it's up there, my heart, my daughter said, he was like, yeah, something like that. It's up in the stuff. So when they came out with a song, I was just like, it is what it is. So after that I realized, now it's trying to make your way of escape so you could stay and know the bullshit you dealing with and know that it's actually destroying your brand because once you don't know what they're keeping far as the footage, but once it's once it's out there, you already know what people's d m and you and sending you. You already know the truth. It's tough for you to face it. So me being a woman that comes. My parents are about to celebrate August night, they're celebrating forty years marriage. Both parents grew in church, grew up military, like, grew up bedtime, you know, a very lenient home. So what I was doing and how I grew up wasn't matching up. I was accepting things that I shouldn't even allow to permeate my space. So it was just like I had to make a choice. But when you're trying to leave a situation after the world was about to see like damn, I thought you was married this this is your third marriage. When they showed a thing like damn, bit a lady talking one time, every time I turned around, you get married. I saw a bit stop turning around. But then I had to realize for myself, fish stopped making permanent decision off temporary emotions. So I took that accountbating for myself. So honestly, marriage boot camp was for me to get my mentor together because it will put you in the space where you have no other choice but to fix fix it. Yeah, So it didn't complicated at all because I had a domestic uh case open with is a p F a protection from abused, So people a lot of people don't know, but people were telling me, But I was defending a situation which we know what the fun going on. I'm like, fuck you bitch, I'll beat your ass. Well, How'm gonna beat your ass? And I'm getting my ass beat. So I'm one of the people that followed through in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. You have to go three times to the court, and I went all three times, so I have a detective order. So with that, my divorces find on everything. I realized and dr Ish, the black guy, he came to me. He was like, I don't ever con like. I don't never push for divorce or for people to break up. But I'm gonna just tell you mo once he said, Cynthia, that's my realm name. Once you realize who you are, that's when you're gonna make the right decisions and you're gonna level up. And I asked you this early in a different way. Um, so you were lady to marry j Blis when when she felt like that very much? And on Hot Boys video set because I'll start crying that when this one ship get real. Me, I took my used to always go with my sister everywhere. I always keep somebody with my family close because I don't trust the industry. Peoples will try to lie you. I've been I've been a situation with people try to on people. I ain't got nothing to do with that. Um Mary j Blache had got and we were in our trailers and she was just shooting a scene and so for some way reason Hot Boys video shooting, I had my sister with me and my sister like, I want to meet Eve. I was like, let's go say how to marry? She with her sister, Lutalian Mary Grahamed. She was like, oh my god. And I still have the picture to this day with me and my sister from the Hot Boys set. She was like, yeah, I got so. She used to call us the pretty Whig sisters. She was like, yeah, I've got some pretty wig so mind you. I'm just getting the industry. And I meet Mary J. Blige and I'm so freaking hight. Mary says, let me tell you something. Don't trust under these motherfucker's and keep your family close. Why she sounds like Mary right now, like her, you just you just embedded her. She told me that that was the nineteen She said, don't trust sun of these motherfucker's and keep your sister close, keep your family like your real family clothes because people will play like their family and they don't. But she was like, will you get your wigs from? I was like, oh, my friend got it from Flatbush. As she ordered the twenty dollars, she said the fuck No, paid twenty dollars and we just paid the thousand dollars for these to be floating. And I said, now we get these just from Flatbush. My girl, my whole girl. Yes, she buys. I give a hundred. She bought five wigs and she styles them up so while people are charging the thals and she getting them from the line, she the line, she just saws and she called us the pretty Weig sisters. And then after that, I never forgot this. So every time I see Mary's always loved. She always like documentary. I haven't seen it yet, but I saw pieces of it because I saw it with me supposed and I saw it, I was just like, damn, that ship. I've I've seen tours with Mary and I've been a lot of her shows, and I'm just like, damn, I feel that I know what it's like to be on I was addicted to opioids ecstacy. When I googled you, um, that was the third and that came up was opioids And I don't exactly know what is. Can you explain that wells are like percosets and it's a narcotic But it started with prescribed pills. It started with prescribed pills because us as in the black community, when we think of opioids, we always think that's a white thing. Yeah we're not realizing, But I don't live in a black neighborhood. You know what's crazy is the soccer moms. That's who be lit. You wonder why they'd be so hyping the carras be so lit. I'm like, oh, she's on man's wait wait there. Mostly they don't mostly purposes. They mostly do zanix a lot of that stuff. Like when I was the amount that I was doing for my height and my weight, it was unacceptable. So how does this happens? You you break a fingertip or something that you go to the doctor. All my children I have five children, all five were born via since area. So they give you all of them. And what does that? People that they cut you open. You don't push it out your pal all right, so cut you so they got used mads. After that they give you they give you a spinal so they don't give you a normal apple duel. So that means from here on down, well, from the waist on, from the ribs on down, everything is sleep. And before you can even go see your kid, for real, and before you go you have to you have to move your feet, is certain things you have to do. So when you have a V a vaginal birth, you can literally go home the next day. We have a C section, you're doing five days automatically. It's literally the most it's dangerous because everything is sleeping. A lot of people they'll do V back, which is vaginal birth after Ssian. But I don't want to feel no labor, so I opted for all cesaria. But I realized now I was just getting necessary because I didn't want to feel no pain because I was gonna throw enough in my life. So medicate me and give me my perks. And then after after these you're saying, after the the highest level of men's that you can get. Because what I'm saying, when when did you become to your thought, did you was addicted? It's after all five kids, or this is in between. It was between really because of day was giving you because they'll give you the mass. And then when they when they come past the point where it becomes uh, doctors can't lose their license for overprescribing. So then we start going to the street to try to pay an extra money. A thirty on the street now sixty dollars. Before it was like sixty's a shower. Thirty is the highest. If you go over that, then you're just asking motherfucking deaf, you might as well just do heroin. But I never wanted to do heroin because I'm like, oh, now I can't see myself. Are you are aware of what's going on? Like you're aware that this is almost this is like considered real drugs, even though you know you're getting it from a doctor, Like did you ever consider that this is crazy? Or I didn't care? Okay, because I'm like, I'm in the music industry. I'm a rock star and popp acts on a smoke weed and I did coke, never did heron, never did math. So I'm just like everybody else is doing it. You'd be surprised how many people at this Molly set. But I try to give him perket he wouldn't even make it. Will you try to get Future Perfect at a Philly show? And he wouldn't take it? He was like no recently, this is when this is about five four or five years ago. It was him Todd dollars on at the show and I tried and I was just like, what the fund is you doing? Mo? And he was like, no, I'm not gonna perform like that. So I was just like, you know what, Yeah, you're saying what are you doing? More? Because you hear you all listening to his Yeah, how I'm trying to be the line because I hear a song and I automatically assume that's what he does, just because somebody says, almost shoot up the club. Nobody's yeah, Like just because people say it don't mean they really do it. We know, what's what's the way? Philly? He's in Philly and you come to him, and how do you describe this situation? You say, what's up? Bro? I go because I'm saying future for years, I've known it for years. Like so it's like aways a double cup, Yeah okay, And we were actually I think we will you know what you're trying to say that we were like we were actually that's that's make everybody drinks before this show because it's honestly it's a comment. But the double cut means scissor. That doesn't mean no, he didn't have that. We were actually making well I used to do to really like I don't understand how I'm still alive. I'm gonna tell you because I've had a situations where I've had to be hospitalized. But we were making sandwiches and so we were getting a picture. I took it m throwing up a dome like damn, we would just eat, and I was just like, yo, you're good. You want some. I was like, I got onto fives and some tens and he was like, no, I'm good. He's like I wouldn't be able to perform like that, and I was like, I respect that. Fives and some tens just pink this green there's white, So fives of the whites, that's the lowest millgram thirties those are for the heavier us. Yeah, and what are we talking about? What is the perks of perks? What do you yeah? The person? Honestly, if you don't, it's a it's a pay man. It's the highest level of pay man. So when you're all them, you become aggressive because you feel nothing. You don't feel anything. It's honestly, it's it's almost like it's an upper So it makes you feel a cocai, but it makes you feel like you're invincible. So I won't be in here throwing it around. See when you start mixing stuff. I've been in places where I'm knocked it over. I'm gonnaknock all this ship over you. You know what I'm saying. But I'm just like, damn, like I really let myself hit rock bottom. But you you said a co car? What does this co car? I feel like upper so love story. It's just like I did. That was back in the days first you did cocaine with. Honestly, I don't do drugs in front of people really because I've always had fear or they're gonna have me looking crazy and my butt be out like some weird ship. I remember being high of X and I had to tell my manager at the time, like because she gripped me up. I was with Snoop and Joey i A and I was about to get hurts how and she was like, sit your ass down, don't you ruin this party because this is not your this is not your place. And I sat my ass down and I went in the room, and I remember crying because I thought the phone was on fire. I was like, can we please get my mother on the phone because I don't want to be this high. The phone was on fire and that's what That's what it looked like to me. Ecstasy is weird, so I stopped that. But I was chasing that high from purpose. Well, I hadn't done perks about it. I was just doing X halves and holes. I thought I was a rock star. Yeah, but I would sing a show and be killing it, so I wasn't like singing all weird and something. To me, that's what helped job rule is ecstasy. It helped a lot of artists. You'd be surprised they what gospel artists? Artists? Did you say? Gods? Who artists? They do drugs too. There's a couple of them. You'd be surprised because it's like artists just because they sing a certain genre music, you just never know what the person is going through. And not realized what I was going through. I realized that I was trying to cover the pain with pills, but it was actually destroying my spirit. So that's why I we're retalited. I'll be throwing shoes that bitches be trying to fight, Like the last straw was. I remember, I was off a pill. I was off a Zanni No, I was off Addie and a perk and my white friends take this. It's actually subscribed at a roller for actually is to calm you and to keep you focused. So it's those those pills aren't designed to make you go crazy, but when you start making cocktails and using them, it does your system. Just like, wait, what the going on? What was the cocktail? Cocktails? Alcohol to start your dad? So me being four eleven pos back then, I was like one fifteen? How am I still alive? So that's when I had to become an advocate because I'm just like, yo, this ship because once the high come down, you'd be so aggravated. That's when I started cursing everybody out. The funk you're talking about, bitch will pop out like what And a lot of people I had lost a whole, like a lot of fans like it was making the blogs. I'm like, well, the stuff I promote, y'all don't post up, But when I talk crazy to people, that's what y'all post up. So I thought I had to had had the music and this on the radio. No, now I was on the radio because I know that we're radio. I had said something someone one time and they called the radio station trying to get me fired. I said, you can't give me fired, which I'm number one, so I became copy at that point. That morning show was hard to be number one, but people would call and complain. But then when they call and complain and too much, you just like, all right, I gotta fall back. But nobody would tell me because I wouldn't listen because she was on the y'all. Of y'all. Yeah, it was on the y'all to me. But but you think it's individuals. Literally at three o'clock in the morning going to the radio station to be there at five four, six o'clock show, Hi on my fucking mind. But I had another one show, so I thought, oh, this is what everybody does. But you think it's individuals that need this. You think it's it's industry white that everybody like the industry. They start this is the crush that everybody needs to deal with all the social bullshit. The you don't need it to deal with because a lot of people with the industry, you don't want to deal with the bullshit. So if so many people, I can look at people right now because I've come from that high ship you think you regularly Now I really can't I could tell when she's I can literally tell, because it's not even the fact that maybe they popped the field. I can feel the spirit. You can tell I need to explanation. You could just tell by their mannerisms, Like like I can look back at interviews and I can tell when I was just sitting there doing all this like business because I'm naturally fidgety, because I'm just like I have an O. C D. Like I want to dust this able off so bad. But I looked back at interviews and I could tell how aggressive, how emotionally. Yes, I had what she was a radio okay, and you all thought she was when you get the radio show. Probably so, But I didn't care because I probably was hot too. I'll expect the answer what I talks. I'm a survival domestic violence and drugs, the things that I grew up in a Christian household. My dad's a bishop, my mom's an Avengers. So everything that they were against I became. But I had to draw the line because I have children. I don't want them to come back. My kids can read. My five year old reads on the sixth grade reading level from all right, So what was it? What was the moment where you was like, this is it for me? Um, don't tell me marriage? Boucan Now. I was after that because before I already knew I had to make a change and I had to stop. But I remember being told I'm gonna blow your hand off and you're gonna throw you over this balcony, and everybody that I had been unding and facilitating didn't help. So I knew only one place to run, and that's where I ran, and that's when I was just like I was tired of seeing and feeling like that. And honestly, I think I was more afraid of going through the withdrawal because a period you have to go through from anything from relationship, yes, it feels like death because I've tried it before and I was like, no, I can't do this, Just get me a pill. But I was afraid of a withdrawal and it was just like you want to die or and be selfish because you have children, or you wanna start from scratch, and started from scratch literally means starting everything over everything. So I was just like, nah, I didn't have these five children for no reason. And I know they was tired to see him because I wouldn't do stuff around up, but they could tell by my mannerisms and what was being posted online, like they can read and they can see. And when my son would come to me and stuff like look what somebody said, I would like get off the end the net. Stop. But that's all they know. Nobody watches TV. They google everything, they see everything. And I've also seen on Jason Lee show thing it's this podcast or something, and Jason Lee said he was asking you and you said that you went to a moment of depression, right, And um, I believe he said that you had to stay away from everybody at one point. Yeah, or what happened that? Then? Why did you feel like that? Because I knew that being around the industry and people it was toxic. And I'm not saying it was them, it was me because I know that when I come around and returned, and it just felt like, as my now manager says, it feels like people were paying you to go to go away, And I said, what you mean about this, because it'll go from making a certain amount of night to people just trying to offer you anything, and just like, well, I'd rather get paid this this anything than do it for free. And it's just like, nah, I ain't nah, like, don't play with me, especially not now, and people I thought that they could play with me, even recently. And that's where I say it was a test to see if you're fall for the oaky dope or if you're fall for the bullshit, or if you're gonna stand on what you're saying. You came back to do and I had to stand firm or even things that I think would have pushed me to a higher visible position because everything now was about the lifestyle and they want to see you with the bus now rolling, They want to see what the aps they want to But I was flying. We was flying on Leo Cohen's jet in ninety nine. So when I see people and just I'm like, damn, I did that and I wasn't even you feel me. We had the bust that people who stole all the rings in the jury, Like I've been there, done that, So that stuff doesn't impress me. But I get it my kids, I get it. Kids are impressionable. So it's just like now I have to reintroduce a different glow so you might not see me with oh, or I had the grills I had and all of that I did that. Now the glow that has to be translution that people that will respect is the one from within. So when somebody say, oh, we want you to be on this TV show for twenty five the funk out in my my mortgage alone, I was told, don't step out your house. You can pay mortgage for since months period. Don't play with with, don't play with shout out the Organic Food Kings. Incredible. We got the truck outside at Organic Food Kings. Make sure you check them out. We're gonna be eating them all the time right now? Do you do you agreetum? Would you regret anything in life, like, especially when it comes to entertainment, not even your personal just entertainment. I have no regrets. I have some reservations on things that I said and I did, and I always felt that, oh that's who I am, but honestly that's not how I was raised. So the fact that I get a second chance to revisit and people are just like, we believe you more, all right, Because when you don't realize who you are and people come to be like, but do you see what the is going on? Like? Why are you letting this happen? I'm like, my your fucking business, that's me. It's just like when you realize I don't regret anything. I wish I would have did things differently, but I wouldn't have got married three times. I should not have did that. I've let people in my circle, in my personal and in my spirit that I shouldn't even you think these men took advantage? Are you totally? Because Google nothing pops up but my name. So now when I see people like old nickas Baby Mama's, I was like, yeah, bo, look who they associated with. So how I'm on tour? I told with jay Z, I told fifty Cent, I told Miss l A, I told with y'all Rule Grand Stages, would Keith Sweat and Payla Bell, Joe LeVert, I've been on Jimmy Kimmel, I was on Jay Leno. I rocked all these shows before they were How the fuck is you over there with y'all? From the y'all from the y'all men y'all? So who's your favorite part of the game? Is it making the music or performing the music? Performing? I hate the studio. I feel so closed and I feel so stuck, and then I'll always go out and listen and I know that, oh you don't have to overdo it no more. You don't have to oversing but live, you can give it your all. So I really wish that I could sing songs live and then people know them because I hate the city and the energy you get from the WHOA, why would you hate the studio? I don't think I've ever heard. I hate being in the booth. I hate when the headphone like the studio I work out on One day, somebody broke the headphones that I'm used to, so when I had to use some new headphones, people might think that I'm just like, nah, I just know what I want to hear, clutching my ears a certain way. I'm just used to it. So I realized that maybe I need to to take the bus headphones out. I mean, but I bust like seven headphones all the time because all the way, So people be like, how do you listen to it so loud? You saying, I'm like, I just want to hear it loud. I want to like, I don't know why I have it up, So maybe I want to step back from the mic because we can hear leading in I'm like, oh, well, you figure it out that to do with me. Hello, wow, No, just election, even though it was weird, it was yeah ye wow wow yeah. And you have a podcast as well. Right, well, I did the podcast like two years ago and I was traveling to New York. I actually had the little motion. We was running right above Medicine Square Gardeners. It was like a little situation was, um, I forgot the station that was over there. They had a nice room, was like a stage and everything. So I was doing a podcast and I just realized, like the artist side, you have to like pick a side with R and B because when you're doing interviews and you have to discuss uh current events and when somebody do something crazy and you have to talk about it, people think that you hate. And I'm just like I literally used to have to tell artists will stop doing dumb ship and we don't have to report so because I really have to focus on my craft and my glow. It's just like I'll do the podcast where like everybody has a podcast. Now everybody's podcast, and I'll be like there's some people I be like, don't nobody. Then you gotta say, like people just think you get on the took. They don't realize this production is you have to stay current content everything. But I learned that from radio. So I literally came from Major and learned everything from the artist side to the radio side. Yeah, so it's like now I know how to rock it. So once I do my show this time, I think it would be through the roof because I got the friendships and the relationships where I could call anybody be on. But you gotta make sure people care. And did you like the reality TV when you did it? I did. But at the same time, it's just like I know that the higher ups have their favorites. He've be like, well they you know these episodes, and I don't know what see. I'm a part of that. I'm a part of the industry, but I'm also part of the don't care society, So they'll be showing stuff on to you, like don't nobody care? Like what did you think? Nobody who care about? Right now? Every do you want to care about? Foolishness? Like if you're artists, they just want to hear you sing. People just I just look at the show you hate right now. I don't even watch TV. The last I watched movies, I watched movies. Okay, what's what's a good movie? I just watched the movie. It was at what was called I Saw the Devil and it's totally in It's Japanese but they have the subtitles. Yeah, maybe like he was, he was not a canible. He was dismembering people, but he wanted to be caught, but they couldn't catch him. And he killed the FBI Japanese FBI agents. Uh fiance and she was pregnant, so he started killing ship. She was training. What's that ship? Um um? Not hard boy, you hard boil, hard boil. I watched The Family guy, watched Total Comedy. Sat tired. Okay, it was a great comedy movie. You like Stepbrothers. Yeah. Me and my son were watching The Holy and like we'll go place. My son went to something one day, he went to up. He went to he started football workout and they was just like yo, just they tld my son just they was like, you missed three passions, you trash. She was like, well that guy was a rip off. My son is hilarious. He said stuff around me. I'm just like, I don't know if a son should be saying to a parent like he'd be like, Mom, yesterday was so hot, it was hot as tips outside. What son says that to their money getting a lot of money because he's raised right, Because no real hood kid is saying it's hot as tips outside. I've never life said that that word in front of my mother, and I've grown to this day I'll be like, I'll say boobs, but I'm like, oh, my kids. Really the worst things he could be saying. Yeah, the stuff that my son says and the thing he's watching. If he's like from the hood in the hood, even as hot as right is allan and that's not a good thing. My five year old when he u he just got out of kindergarten, so they did have virtual and then they left them in for four days a week. The last day of school, he was like, yes, it's gonna be a hot summer. It's lyddy as a titty. I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna smacking away from me as Okay. Now, they just announced Bobby Brown against keep Swam. Yeah tomorrow, well July first, July one, so this is this is this would be out next week, so this had already happened. Ye, who did you pay back to the future Okay. So because I've worked with both, I haven't done this your Bobby Brown. Yeah, I keep sweat, So that's automatically my pick. You're gonna go against my prerogative, Well, let me tell you something. Wait, new edition gonna be there. No, no, I'm just staying the bag. But they both worked with Teddy Riley, So honestly, this is really Teddy versus himself. Are we taking a shot? Are we taking the shot? Let's take a shot. I don't know where you're going with this because I was just like with Bobby Brown. He was the original bad boy. So my my brother three thousand times, no, my brother got a work one time when when my karaget came out, my brother was dancember. When our Send Your Hall was out, my brother used to be dancing and we were supposed to be in bad because my brother's finger. Yeah, and my brother dance and paragetive and he got a whip and my dad was like, I told you to go to bed and stop Bobby Brownie. So when that he used to punk and dance like the R and B singers used to, my dad said stop Bobby Brown and he was like that was inappropriate. So homies. Why y'all gotta dance Bobby Browning, I would like to learn that Bobby brown Why didn't do this now that we need brown You don't I want the Bobby. But the R and B singers used to go like this, This Bobby Bobby was the original bad boy. So he can't watch you. We watch you because we gotta drive you gotta relax. Yeah, you like do all this pandemic everything. You're a motherfucking about giving artists the flowers, and you deserve your flowers. You have always been there. I've never seen you, you know, with the sour puss face. I've always seen you happy. I've always seen you you didd working, busting your ass, and you just serve to be there. You deserve to be the legend that you are, and we want to tell you to this space we invented giving people the flowers. I don't know if you know. Everyone's saying, I don't know, it's real talk. Everyone's saying that now. But we did this right here in the same exact place we said that we didn't want to interview the new artists, not because we don't got love for the new artists what we do, but they have the Hot Lady sevens, they have the Power one of fives, they have these all other outlets. Where's the outlets for the people who've been here ten years and more of the seasons and that still want to be here, and you know what, they deserve their flowers, And this is what we did. We don't want something to happen to you and say, oh my god, yeah, this is what they deserve. So this is what we we. We didn't it been the whole flower thing, but we invented in the hip hop saying giving the people the flowers, just in case you don't know, you deserve your motherfucking flowers, the flowers. That's you're a legend. You're um and pursuing on do you did you? Did you think that when you first started that you would survive this long? No? Because I literally used to take it for a joke, singing or you know how people who have like, oh I grew up with Barry GORDONO I grew up with I grew up in a Stevie Wonder's house, or people had that story. I never had that story. I literally moved back to you saying his eyes on the sparrow, and um, Chuck Bone told me when I because I was gonna sign to uh different labels back in the day, but the lecture was the ultimate choice. Umpire Yeah, not only that, but was there it's not a get Yeah, I was supposed to sign a Tommy Boy. It was like certain labels that I had to boy. Hello, looking at your flowers soon, man, because he did make me a lot of I had. Who was I forgot the lady's name. She brought me over there, and she was like, I think she's gonna be amazing if I hear her name. I don't remember it, not Carolyn Will. She was kind of she was heavy saying I forgot her name, but she she might have not even really work there. Hello, because you know, people used to cat but we couldn't say nothing. You couldn't google. They was the assistant, but now a lot of assistants are executives. So I've seen it. But like, just like just looking over how I got in the door, Chuck Bone told me one day, he was just like, you know, you talk a lot of ship, but for some reason, I believe you could back it up. So I don't know where it came from. I literally were going to meet and act like I already had a record there, and I just always acted as if that. I was just like I already knew what I said and sought out to do. I didn't leave home at seventeen to lose, So even though I took some hits in between, I was just like, no, I'm always I don't know, like, I don't know what game got driving motivation then, But now what motivates me is my children, because I love I love my kids like the pandemic was a blessing because ever since the age of seventeen, actually before that fifteen, I've been on the road. So I didn't know what it was to sit down my ASTs down. Four year I would have a kid and within six weeks we'd be out. We've been on the road. My daughter was on a tour in Jamaica with me. She's eighteen now. But I was just like, y'all literally ain't never set my eyes down. So this year I had to take off. I got to refocus, rebrand, revisit, reglow everything everything that we didn't get a defenditive answer of Bobby or keep sweat. We didn't get a defensive answer. Okay, Bobby was the bad boy, but Keith Sweat, it's almost Likenel and then still coming home, yeah yeah, yeah, getting people. Bobby he won one of his joint Honestly, I think the safer true I've never heard. All right, I would have to choose Keep Sweat for safety reasons, right because he got to Jerry drib not even that okay, but Keep like we've never seen him. But Bobby was a bad boy. So I would hang out with Bobby, but I would ride get a rod home from Keith Sweat all because Bobby he gonna strow cocaine everywhere. See, I've never seen him do. But Bobby just used to be some print ship and because they came from Louis ship. He just said, I've read some stories about James. I was just like, yo, he was lit when they said that man who told that story? Where did I hear that? On the table he threw the cocaine at the President. He was by brown fried chicken with cocaine. Now, that's that's pretty out of control. That's like, you know, like the flower the bat weed better, but then cocaine, cocaine got you gotta be asketball. That's expensive. That's who said that's in his book. He wrote that somebody wrote it was like, I'm gonna put something I don't even know you could fry coat, and then that's crazy. Man, I'm saying you're cooking cold. That's a chicken. I wouldn't even think, like I don't Yeah, that's the hot. I don't know how I started putting it in his book, in his book. And not only that, when I met Bobby Brown a getting like the third time and I met Brown, said what's up? He said, man I performed. He said, we used to be hurting your projects. That was the most I was like, yeah, let men tell yourself. Stalking that ship because I used to live in South Side, Jamaica, so I would have to go to beauty school. So when we were pasts left Rock, I was like, damn, I want to meet Noria. Now. I used to always think like people atomic like you draw pass and Nori would be there. Would I would have been. I used to be scared because left Rank is like Iraq, So it's just like you just don't go from Jamaica States where eventually moved to States. Yes, yeah, it's very rich, you're very rich. Yes, hold the buildings. So the building I lived in like, what the dad? So he owns it now, but it's just like damn like and you can't get out those contracts. I'm probably stilling it today. So when you overall the music industry, overall entertainment, what does your overall look at it? Like you happy, you satisfy? Are you sure that you luck you you feel great that you participated? Or this is something that if you had a chance to do it all over you would pick a different career. No, I would. This is the only job I've never worked at FedEx only I went to The most I've ever done was went to hair school. So this is all I know. So honestly, I think I would have stayed more. I would have student more firm. And I've never been associated now I have a team. I just always been associated with people, so I was never I was always torn with Murdering, but I wasn't never signed to them. I was torn with Missy, but I was never signed to I went on the Rock the Mic tour, but I wasn't signed the jay like the people that made the calls and be like, yo, we want you to run around. So it's just like I was never I was always affiliating associated with things, but I never had anything for myself. So now that I have a chance to rebrand, I wish I would have done it sooner because I think I would be yummy. I would own everything because I know the way I think, but I would put people in positions to pass me. But I'm not doing that no more, and I think that I should have done it sooner. But I get it. I didn't know the game. I didn't have the management. Yeah, Like I was literally doing a lot of things by myself. It felt like I was paying people to be my friends and to be around, so they would be management. It would be certain things. But I'm just like, wait a minute, like it just it just wasn't right. So I really thought it was the inertainment industry, so I was thoroughly and highly entertained. But it's the music business. So I did the music, but I didn't handle the business. So now have a chance to get it right. That's why I'm just like, I'm back for my second goal. Like you, nobody can't kick me at it. And I've never only think I've been kicked out was high school and they had to let me back in calling yes call, that's the brod answer because it's still the daytime. Okay, were let's see, But so what happened? So what happened when you heard that this versus battle between me and BBC? Where was at um? I was literally peeking on Instagram and I saw it peeking and I saw you running in like a sweatsuit, and I saw you post I saw him posting up beings just like Yo Norri, and I was just like, see me and Beans go way back like years. We did park a lot of people with jay Z together, so that was a great experience. He shot a video, I did the song if you want to f I used to visit that Halfwayhouse, Like that's family, so much like I hate when I have to because friends are family that you're not related to, and in his family that you're not even blood related to. But like I used to visit him at the Halfway House, and there's times that he saved my life, so I had to like kind of just like it's just like I've never heard this when people just tell you get off the streets. Why he was in the streets, Dad, Hevy that used to be like Bean Easy the boy street Polly had to tell you to get off the streets. Well, I had to tell what it wasn't not like no no running around like hanging up like I'm sad like and he had to say he basically tell my people is just like yo, like that's dope what you did with mom, Like my people literally came home. It was just like I don't like what people saying behind the scenes. We gotta clean you up. And I'm like, damn is that bad? And this is being saying that to you? Well, be like because he called me little cis. So it's just like like, sis, what did you doing? Like how you go from this to like you can't you can't move like that. You're a queen, your royalty, you're a treasure in this industry, and you're a mom. Like beans has cooked dinner for me and my kids. That nig is a chef, Like he cooked stuff that he cooked seafood better than the seafood because he don't even eat seafood. So it's just like we have history. So it's just like I'm glad you mentioned nothing about music. Thank you? What no once? He once it's a rap, It's just a record call. Sometimes I want to cry and pray sometimes I'm not sure if you heard that. You know what I mean, God from Jamaica state. It's not Jamaica, you know. But I'm just like, that's gonna be a great The reason be because your personalities, Like I love that y'all. Don't just be acting weird like I'm just playing around. I'm just playing around, like I just try to gas it up because at the end of the day, I did, you know, reach out to Swiss and him. And I don't want to say they ignore me, because that's not the truth. They did, you know, acknowedged me. But they didn't. They didn't bring up Oh, I see what you are doing. I see that, you know. So I said, I figured, you know what, let let me, let me, let me help hype it up. You know what I'm saying. So this could happen because at the end of the day, Beans is my friend, Beings just my brother. But at the time when I said your beans, come outside, what I said, it's like come outside and get some money, like come outside, like like like we've been hearing about you for for or four minute. Let's come outside and let's work. And it doesn't matter like whether we do the bad or not. I want to do it. But at the end of the day, at the end of the day, when I hit you know, brothers and they and they and they don't I don't want to say that didn't hit me back, and they hit me back, but either one of them was like, what's up, let's do this. I see what's happening. And I've known I know from the you know, backside who they want me to battle like quiet as probably crept from what I heard. They was like, you know, a lot of people was leading towards me with Cameron. I don't think Cameron is gonna do it. I don't think not because you know, I think he's just you know what, I what do you want to do? So I tried this, I really, I really really tried this. I hate Pete Crack. I hit everybody, the young guns and you know I didn't hit young guns. Excuse me. I missed young guns and I hate um Bleek. And the thing is, the thing is I don't own versus, so I can't make it happen. But I did everything I could do to make it happen. I did everything I could do to make it happen. I did everything, And that's why we got Bees. I wanted to have Bees calling today. I didn't tell him my time. I didn't tell him my time. That's probably party part. I funked up everybody. We might have him here live at the show, and then we might have here live at the show to promote it some more. Because I want to go in there. I don't want to. I wanted to. I think the culture wants it. I think we want people des like I love versus but now in the popularity's contest, because I was like, who you who you want to battle? I don't want to do like how D'Angelo did me and some friends because I don't know if people know about get away with that, because everybody do you want to? I think that would have been lit with me versus her, and we would have been because because we've actually toured together and the love is huh you wrote no, but we both work with like I work with Murder inc. And then when we felt like she carried the torch now she's getting Walk of Fames like that would have been lit. And I think of the coaraderie because we have history and like we've done shows together, like when I want to do it right, Okay, I think that would have been let's do a realistic who you think you um that didn't battle yet? Who should do versus with me? With you? Because I've wrote for a lot of people, So I would have to battle a nigga na just like we're missing. It's like, whoo, why can't battle dude? Yeah, like who says it has to be? That's a misogynistic or that's sexist to say that I have to battle another female to give me a female and a guy. You think you can give me both that and let me take a shot for that. But my cocky is jay z ship. I don't know he's not doing we shouldep R and b you and usher see I should be he would have to go against a chrisp Bar. It's almost like when I came out, I was doing what I did, so people came before me, but then they were people that came after me. So you can't battle who came after you. You feel I was doing wrap hooks. I was literally more hip hop. Who honestly that would be a good batte that being good a battle in English? Sis? So mark, but we go. But yeah, like I saw people say you should do a battle because it was like yeah, should do you a battle with four y'all. I'm just like, no, my discography, even if you may not have heard the song, and in my fan base like don't like don't play with me like I wrote for Janet and Teddy Roley. So I have a song called girl Broker, like don't play with me. I'm not one of you could do Janet Jackson. So the song Girl I vocal produced Whitney Houston on the song. You know what I'm saying, Like, my my foundation is strong. I didn't just get in like just writing songs and then just featuring and just being around. Like I looked at my discography one day and I was just like, wow, I forgot I did that, or people will remind you to be like sis, don't never forget who you are. So now that I remember, it's not on No Cocky Ship. But it's just like I did all this by myself, Like I had Missy be like, yo, go ahead. I remember standing in the boot of Whitney Houston and she given me a Fisherman friend because I was so nervous my throat dried up and she was like, no, that I do that, do that? And I was like I don't remember what I did. I was so scared to play it back and tell Whitney Houston. What do I remember Broker reducing Jerald LeVert and he wasn't singing a note wrong and all Star telling me no, he did the no wrong. I was like, I don't want to tell him, like, I know what I've done everything. I remember working with jay Z and him telling me you want to go a tour, like, please don't discredit my backstory. Don't worry about what I was saying, you'll wah a lot of people up. They better be careful because when you see Cynthia loving or because yeah, and then I was counting. I was just like, I got twenty in the possibles, a couple of possibles because people are like, oh you know one hand was like no, like I've done features and they are so that went see everything now they think it's viral. Rachel got so spancial, so he probably would have to battle. He would have to battle another guy. I used to vocal produce him. I did work with him too. Yeah, and I remember he used to be cutting up in the student They was like, no, make him saying, I'm just like he's not gone shore. But to this day he hugged me. We did a show with Live Nation. It was the Femine Forward Tour. He was there. He he was just like yo, and I interviewed him for Ready, who was like MO, like I survived the turn up. We survived the turnop. So seeing him go through, he's still in the turnop, but he survived. He was outside and I was around when he would go to the studio and be running around and be like, oh my god. I wouldn't have to be like, come get your brother. We're gonna call Mr new Land and her dad. So I've seen him go through, but I get it. He grew up in up. A lot of people expect so much more from you when you grow up with both parents. When you're get in this industry, you're literally alone and you're finding your way. Your sisters already established, your parents are really dedicated to making sure y'all win. You rebel. I was a rebellious one, so I understood. So when I saw the list of things that he's accredited, I'm just like, don't sleep. He's not one of those. He he really has everything he said he was. He's a go get it a lot of people didn't understand that before was how you just run around you to know I was just running the rup. No, I'm not one of those. Please don't take away what God has blessed me with because tell nobody to challenge you. Honestly, I would love to do it versus how D'Angelo did bring people out because then people like, oh, I don't want to battle nobody because they go saul for sault. My catalog is extensive. I've worked with you know what I'm saying, So it's just like it might be not be something as well. Yeah, or that I said, ain't gone that you didn't know that, Oh that's me, and it'd be like a lot of people were like, I didn't know that what you're saying on that and wifey and like stuff that I've done, or that it was my know that's me singing even though that's the records. Wife will you be my wife? Yes? Wifey? Yeah? Or that I like what I did when you move up close to me. They didn't know I was. I did a lot of background work but it was safe. But I was pregnant the time, so I couldn't be in a video. Yeah, that's fine. We love that you love the baby. Who's that they was trying to they they was trying to do that Holy morning about the morning. So we're laughing direct. I don't know what's going on. I was pushing the button tell you something. I can't thank you enough. I really I want you to know that this is your platform whenever you want to come back. We got the new and want to hear sposed that's yeah, yeah, yeah, so yeah, tell us about this new record. This is because I can finally talk about it, because like once we were setting it up, it was just like one thing, I wait for the paperwork to get in. And so once I got the paperwork and I was like, I'm glad I'm getting I get to talk about Shining Star and it's new glow Um. Yeah. Coming back into this industry, you have to realize the lane you created and you have to stay in it. I'm not trying to compete with these new artists because I realized they got their own goal and they're very popular and social media. Have you been thinking that, oh bitch, you washed. But I reached out to a lot of people. Ye know, I got this record. First, I did Broken Heart, which we did during the pandemic. It came out on my birthday, but we recorded on my birthday, came out with my daughter's birthday. Independent, fully independent, the Faculty Music Group. This is my business partner's label. So it was just like, because you have to separate the artist, I have honey Chown, which like, I'm a loan out company. So when you get so when you see me, it's just like, how you have this, that's a little more at all. It was just like, so you have the hardest and you even though it's independent, it means that we do everything ourselves. So all my relationships, all my connections, now I get to maximize. People say, I've been this game for twenty years, never called nobody for favor. It was popping. Yeah, I need that. So I reached out to a couple of artists, Hey, sent you to record different records. I need you on it. And the day t Pain reached back when we sent him Shining Star was in March. He sent it back and who was the day that he announced the social media? Oh my god, I did not know that all these people whatever that day was, he emailed me when he dared me back at midnight, So I was damned. Asleep and he came up. He pay him me back. He was just like, oh my god, mo, I literally just saw this message. So me they get his cap like, oh wait, no, he did just post. I didn't know that the request because when they don't follow you, you don't get to see it even though you're verified. So he's like, I got you. I said, a lot of people said they got medst real good. I met him like almost twenty years ago. A lot of people said they had me that I had didn't get me. He had me. He sent it back and he did his I literally called my manager, was like, T said the vocals. I was on some DJ Kalish, like, oh my god, you know he said the vocals. He was like, listen, I got my record coming out. Let me get some vocal rest. And I got you. I was like, oh man, he ain't gonna send it. He sent it the session and everything, the clearest, whatever you need. I was like, Wow, people don't do that. I do that. A lot of people don't have that type of integrity. Speak to my management. That's cool. I understand that I have my people speak to your people, but they they're pussyfoot or monkey. Put you along the way was good because put it for this when you tipped, yeah, bullshit. You send me the email read in front of my email right now and they won't send it back. He sent it back. He did like I said earlier, he did his part so good. I was like, oh shiot. I didn't even think he was gonna do that much. We went and did my part over. When I say the soul is a back, it's literally better of fact, it's next week week. It's because we got a coded today. We gotta code it. It's up. I was literally just waiting on the artwork. But when fatmis Hoop sent his part, because I was like, I need you to hype up this record, like what yeah, because people haven't heard his voice in a while. He had COVID. He did his part. He was like, yo, mo, I want his doctor seppy ship the record. Don't have but the power of sending stuff via email and I'm sending it back and me sending it so scooping New York. I'm in Baltimore. I don't know where Tea Pain is. He's all over because he has his show. Plus he was working his record with Kalani. So I sent the record to l a to be mixed, sent it to somebody else to be mastered. So the power of being able to push send, and I was just like, this record Shouting Star is not only to empower women, because this is women are dominating the industry. It's also to me super woman and forever because people keep on calling me from my own ship. I'm just like, we've I've commemorated that. That's twenty years old. We celebrated that. Now it's time to celebrate the new, the glow, the vibe, the sound, the one that you love back then when people, Oh my, I grew up to your music and my mother used to play. Now you're about to grow up to this new glow. I haven't missed a beat, my voice hasn't changed. I've been through some ship I could sing about it. Broken Heart was the record we really and that's available on all streaming platforms now all my first two hours based on the Truth story, and Meet the Girl next Door finally on all streaming platforms. So I missed twenty years of streaming. Whatever year streaming came out, they just added October during the pandemic, so we're running it up. So now I'm just like now, that I have this second chance. I'm gonna put out some new music and I don't have to try to sound like everybody today. I still have my sound, but just to let people know, like I'm coming. What's that record you got when you were like, um, I think it's like at one point five million views? Thing's t O P and A something like that. When you're talking mom, I'm gonna get you can leave. Would lead a car nigger? All right, So that's that's independent as well. That's well, that was on the first album. So that's that's on all that was twenty years ago. God, I just so happened to like God preserve me for the sound of Pandemic was good. I got a lot of rest and much needed glow. And it's just like once I realized that people don't want to hear or see none of the other bullshit. They just want to hear you sing mo and they want to see me in power. Like now I realized that had the ditties and had the Jays and had them had they survived through. When the industry shifts and change, you have to put new people in position. So I see who's hot. I see the artists that are coming up from the hers to the summer walkers to the scissors. That's the that's the vibe. My daughters love Kailani. I know who they love. So I'm just like reaching out like yo, no, not with her, but just to see but see the mutual respect and to see how she came up and then then she's in position. I was just like, I respect that. And from the rappers from the Klos to the Malibu Mitches to the I got songs with them, to see I have more sons of rappers? Do I have it? But I've known him since he was bird. We used to when used to have the cutouts and my what it was like, can I have to kind of? So I respect them. I respect how you're moving. But I'm a writer too, and I'm a hardest and I'm sensitive about my ship. So it's just like, you know, I respect and people just like yo, Mo, it's good to see you still doing your thing. So to the the young artists that are coming up to the lottos like big lot of I reached out and I'm just like, yo, like I see you doing your things. I saw, yes, the rappers like they are doing that. She changed the big lot of but it's just like to see everyone doing their thing. Sam A Slim got one more question? Yea, now it's up, it's up, So where is the next for a little more. We're pushing this music because we literally before we even got here, I got a call about a reality show and to hear my managers say, they always want to dwell on the past, and people want to say shows they we want you to be on the show about heartbreaking this, but I'm past that, okay if it ain't about this new glow. Even on two shows, I literally turned down and I'm gonna say this, and this is all due respect. There shows that want to I say, salute or gift flowers. They push their movement and they want you to be a part of it, but they don't want to pay. So it's one thing to promote and the and the do sit downs. But if you want me to perform, don't tell me what your prices. You didn't even ask what my price was. The bag is out. I saw how much rappers baby mothers are gett paid. You're not gonna say, oh I got fired to what I'm gonna like? What am I gonna do with that? What cost five thousand dollars to this day. I'm not trying for a performance. You're not gonna offer me that which I'm not washed. You're gonna this is the prices that we set and you might as well pay it now or pay later, because trust me, it's about to run up. I know the game. This is chess, not checkers, So don't play with me. I'm not one of them. You're not gonna pay somebody's baby mother, they don't have no songs out to come there and drink. But then asked me to come do the same thing in saying that's a separate feet. It was a major people who try to book us. It was like, we want you to come this this, this is okay what that's all the card? So that's ten thou for this? Well, sh bitch. As soon as I grab that microphone is up. I get it. But that was a test to see if I would accept the less. No, you want greater, you gotta do greater. And I realized, now you gotta work hard now, just like I did in the beginning. It's like I'm a new artist, so people know the whole little more. But the new MO, the shining Star MO that's out. Now. You gotta push what you're promoting. You gotta respect the brand. You gotta respect the grind. You gotta respect my work, my work ethic. I don't. I just now started getting some sleep because the pandemic, but I haven't had no sleep in twenty years. Paul, like you feel with Paul Bunyan slept after this and motherfucker grew a beard because I shaved far I got here. You feel me. So it's like, I'm not sleeping and I know what my hand calls for. Nobody's gonna play in my face. So from the verses and have to be meat plus friends because I don't want to battle nobody. Because when you realize, damn, she did that. When I realized all that I've done, I've commemorated on the shows that I've done for free, the tours that I've been on, and been in the middle of the airport and be like, damn, I gotta get home, and motherfucker's cut you know, cut me off in the middle. I realized I was always out here. I had a couple of people with me, But now I have a team. You're gonna respect the team. Javante Tavis he just went. He from Baltimore. I saw him grow up as a younger, and I like what he said. We're just like you're the team, my team, stay on me. They are things I do. Why would you do that? What's that have to do with you? Deleted? Somebody may have screened but deleted. That's not you. There's a new you. You have to reinvent yourself if you want to go to the next level. I reinvented myself and people don't respect it. That damn makes some noise for that. Thank you. We can't we can't think. I feel like I'm going to close it out, but I got to close it out in the shot. Yes, five o'clock somewhere. Yeah, might as well. This is this is amazing because you're not much these shots calls because you got damn, it's fair, no expense here, drink period. You a legend. Thank you, And at first I was afraid of that title because people think legend means old season. Season. The best food in the world is when you season and you leave it over thenight period, purple heart. That season didn't been to the bullshit bees a answer. Nobody can't get bees on the phone because we're gonna take some pictures, You're gonna do some drops, and then he might walk out of the iscabibles. You never know. Is that still open? Always? Yeah? Yes. Thanks for joining us for another episode of Drink Champs, hosted by Yours truly, d J e f N and n O r E. Please make sure to follow us on all our socials.
