Though robots are becoming more capable, training them to move through our world with knowledge that humans intuit is incredibly difficult. But through rethinking the concept of safety, incorporating new kinds of data and finding the value in failure, Andrea Bajcsy, an assistant professor in the Robotics Institute at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science, is trying to do just that.
