A weekly music based show on Thursday evenings between 8pm - 9pm (AEDT). A sharing of a record collection, a journey through old favourites, recommendations, discoveries from the depths of the inter web, record shop finds and current musical obsessions.

Exploring but not limited to the following musical worlds:

New Zealand guitar pop, post punk and Lo-fi sounds.

"Stories from the Australian Underground" with a focus on the mid 70s to late 80s and beyond. Punk, post punk, folk freaks and indie releases. The Australian sounds will be rounded out with a smattering of the current "Australian underground hustle".

Good roots/country music. Poetry from the dust and highways. Not what you may come across today, which as Tom Petty said ‘is basically a bad rock band with a fiddle’! From Hank to Townes to Emmylou and plenty of ‘Cosmic American Music’.

British and American folk, tied in with some good old blues. Plenty of Chicago Chess Record sounds with a journey down the Mississippi River to the northern hill country of Mississippi for some dirty country blues finishing with a side trip to Texas for some Lightnin’ Hopkins licks.

Some weeks may also feature a sprinkling of east coast hip hop, jazz, Ethiopian grooves (good for the soul), African desert blues and Greek Rebetika folk music from the depths of Asia Minor. Psych, garage rock to proto-punk, indie, shoe-gaze, dream pop, ambient and general noise. Blah blah blah.

On this mid-autumn evening, here amongst the mountain forests of Corhanwarrabul, we are off on a pop-filled Narrm/Melbourne staycation to welcome the easter long weekend and delve into the musical world of the upcoming Melbourne Popfest. 

This is taking place at the Coburg RSL on April 11th and 12th and is billed as: “A weekend festival that celebrates Melbourne’s undying love for underground indie pop music - wistful melodies, scratchy guitar racket, cheap Casios, unabashed jingle-jangle, and way too much tambourine!” 

To guide us on this journey, we have the special treat of having Melbourne Popfest organisers Mark and Xavier on the show. They’ll be sharing tracks from artists playing at the festival, chit chatting about all things Popfest, and playing a couple of live songs later in the show.
