Farms Battling Food Insecurity | February 23, 2025

View descriptionShare

DMV Spotlight on 2-23-25 shines a light on a local Organic Vegetable Farm that is partnering with the Lindaben Foundation to distributed hundreds of boxes of fresh organic fruits, veggies, eggs and more each month to six elementary schools in Prince George’s County where over 80 percent of Title 1 students are food insecure.

Guest Emma Jagoz, a first generation farmer and mom and founder of Moon Valley Farm in Frederick County grows the organic produce to fill the boxes. Jagoz explains the effort is part of a larger outreach of a “Food as Medicine “ partnership that focuses on the role of clean fruits and vegetables in battling chronic illnesses in the U.S.

Jagoz explains this is the second year in the program delivering boxes of organic foods to school children and to date for this year school, Moon Valley Farm has provided over 37 hundred boxes for families.
