DMV Spotlight on 4-19-2026 shines a light on an innovative Kennedy Krieger Virtual Reality program to practice life skills for young patients with Down Syndrome and Autism. Guest, Stacey Beichler, assistant vice president of Kennedy Kreiger's Neurodiversity at Work team, pioneered the program locally, that uses VR headsets, screens and other gaming equipment using immersive, interactive technology to allow young people to learn, practice and navigate real life skills in a controlled, low- risk environment. Beichler explains the technology allows individuals with disabilities to build functional life skills and employment skills, which can then be replicated, with supervision in real-life situation.
