DMV Spotlight on 6-28-26 shines a light on the newly re-opened American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in nearby Baltimore that provides cancer patients a home away from home—-free of charge--- during treatment at some of the world-class cancer treatment facilities in the world . Guest, Therese Gustitis, the general manager of the facility explains Hope Lodge is open to DC residents who live more than 50 miles away from where their cancer is being treated. She notes it allows cancer patients and their caregivers to have quiet rooms, fitness center, meditation room, a large courtyard garden and a spacious kitchen. The University of Maryland leases the Hope Lodge location on their campus to the American Cancer Society for $1 a year. Gustitis adds the atmosphere at the Hope Lodge is designed to aid in the overall healing process for each patient.
