The idea, then, is a fair one to bring up: While the Nationals do not have the financial might to pay Tucker $60 million annually — or the depth to take that sort of plunge and survive his disappointing season without drastically reducing their World Series odds for years to come — they are in a better position than most franchises to start taking financial risks this winter.
