In this episode of Designing Futures, three Australian architects and designers discuss the life-changing left turns they have taken in their careers.

Part two sees our 30UNDER30 host Nicole Tan, an associate at HDR, ask guests about their strategies for young designers grappling with big life decisions, finding new challenges within the same organisations and their advice for young women stepping into leadership roles.

Guests include 30UNDER30 mentor Ninotschka Titchkosky, former co-CEO of BVN who left in 2024 after 23 years at the practice; Rosie Morley, a principal at Hassell and regular guest on design programs on TV; and Kate Frear, co-founder of The Advisory Studio, a consultancy firm that uncloaks the architecture and design process for clients who might not be well-versed in the industry.

They talk about hybrid careers, the pressure of life’s milestones, knowing you can’t do everything at once, “closing the gate” on decisions and how people are the sum of their experiences.
