What is the role of parliament? 
What’s the Senate? The House of representatives? The Cabinet?? (no we’re not talking furniture..)

It's the need-to-know information to explain why we have elections, and what impact they have on our lives.

In this episode we’re covering a lot of ground!

We’ll get a broad sense of the Australian political landscape; looking at the difference between major parties, minor parties and independents, what goes down during a campaign period, and the laws around truth in political advertising.

We’ll then look at the media landscape – both traditional and social media – and how we can navigate a complex field of mis and dis information to find information we can rely on.

Guests Dr Zareh Ghazarian and Mali Rea will make a reappearance, alongside new guest, Caroline Fisher, to help make sense of this all.

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is everywhere right now, and this week we’re talking to them to find out what it is they’re actually doing to bring about our federal elections, and the measures that are in place to ensure reliable results. 

You’ll be hearing an interview between me and Nye Coffey, the state manager for Victoria of the AEC. This discussion was so fascinating that ever since, I’ve been dropping election fun-facts into all my conversations… Thanks so much to Nye!
