The Shell House massacre  was a 1994 shooting incident that took place at Shell House, the headquarters of the ANC, in central Johannesburg in the lead up to the 1994 elections. ANC personell  opened fire on the crowd, killing nineteen people. At the time, guards claimed that the IFP supporters were storming the building. SABC Radio News reporters were on the scene and the story was reported on throughout the day. Hendrik Martin was one of the reporters stationed at Library Gardens near Shellhouse. Anita Visser asks him about his experience that day.
