She spoke with WLR's Kieran Foley ahead of this year's festival and outlined how the local community, including her mother Paula's fellow sea swimmers and local priest Fr Michael Enright, have rallied around her in support!

Dunhill's Rachel Keane is this year's New Zealand Rose 

He is an award-winning comedian, impressionist, actor and writer - and he's immensely proud of his Waterford roots!

Mario Rosenstock is perhaps best known for his iconic 'Gift Grub' but there's so much more to him too.

He's also just released a new book 'Gift Grub and Me: My Life in Comedy' which is published by Merrion Press and now on sale.

This morning (Wednesday) he was one of our guests on 'Deise Today' where he had a wide-ranging chat with Damien on everything from Waterford places, to John Mullane and how to pronounce your 'ths'!

The death occurred on Monday evening of former Independent councillor Seamus O'Donnell.

He was elected to represent the Dungarvan-Lismore District at the local elections in both 2014 and 2019.

He had, before that, served as a member of the Fianna Fáil party. 

This morning (Wednesday) Damien spoke to two long-time friends of Seamus - Declan Terry and Michael Hogan, both from An Sean Phobal.

Tributes to late councillor Seamus O'Donnell RIP....

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have donated €150,000 to the three GAA clubs which are located closest to Strancally Castle in Co Waterford. 

It is the couple’s first Irish philanthropic donation since they bought Strancally Castle in August. 

The three clubs - Shamrocks GAA in Knockanore, Tallow GAA in Tallow, and Lismore GAA in Lismore - will each receive €50,000. The donations will be paid to the clubs over a two-year period, with each club receiving €25,000 per year.

Mark and Priscilla decided to donate to the three GAA clubs in Waterford that are closest to Strancally Castle as they are aware of the very significant role that the GAA plays in local communities in Ireland. As new members of the community in Waterford, they wanted to support these local clubs.

“The GAA is at the heart of communities across Ireland,” said Mark and Priscilla. “As new members of the Waterford community, we’re proud to support these local clubs and the important role they play.”

This morning on 'Deise Today', we spoke to representatives from Lismore GAA club, Shamrocks GAA club and Tallow GAA club to find out how they heard the good news - and what the donations will mean for them!
