Saint of the Day: St. Hugh of Grenoble, 1053-1132; born in the Dauphine region, and became a canon of the Cathedral in Valence; he became bishop of Grenoble in 1080, and attempted a massive reform of the diocese, but was discouraged, and retired to Chaise Dieu Abbey, becoming a Benedictine; Pope Gregory VII ordered him to return to Grenoble; he gave St. Bruno the land on which the Grande Chartreuse was built, starting the Carthusians; Hugh died April 1, 1132
