Speaking of history, a bit of ugly South Australian history that I think we're all hoping maybe we got some closure on and a resolution to the disappearance of the Beaumonts. Is entering. The new dig is entering now what it's third day of proper digging, and it doesn't does it seem like we're any closer to solving the mystery. Jay Roberin is at the Caste Alloy site this morning.
Good morning, guys. The gates have just open and the teams are starting to roll through the gates right now. So the dig will commence any moment now, with the focus really being on one hole in particular. We heard yesterday that those two brothers that came and dug that hole two days after the disappearance of the three children were on site all day yesterday. Now there was a really strong focus on that third and new hole. There was a lot of hope surrounding that that is now being ruled out, so they will start filling that hole in today. The focus will now return back to hole one and two, with in particular focus on whole two because yesterday hole one the brothers went into the hole and they're pretty adamant that the consistency of the soil, they don't remember that it's that thick clay soil, and they said that was absolutely not the soil, not the dig that we took part in all those years ago. So they all they remember is that Plimpton soft sand. So everyone listening in the area that's very familiar with that will know that that's really quite well known. It's a really soft, quiet substance as opposed to this thick clay which is in hole one. So the focus today will really be on that whole number two. The brothers also said that when they were in the hole, they could absolutely remember standing in it and being able to see street level, So they'll continue to focus on that hole there. What they're saying now, they're just having a meeting about whether or not they do this or don't do this. But that third hole to this second hole they made today. Just build a massive, big trench between that whole area to basically rule out the fact that, you know, the brothers may or may not have their bearings wrong. They are pretty adamant though. These guys have been talking to the team this morning and they said absolutely these brothers came here yesterday, they remember exactly what they saw, where they were, how they entered it. You would probably think that they're haunted by what they did every single day and relive it over and over. So when they returned to the site yesterday, they were adamant where they were, the smells of it, the feel of it. So again they will focus on that second hole today. But look, there's not going to be any surprise guests that are arriving today Today really will be that focus on finishing those digs and then if they find something absolutely amazing. We know yesterday that they found animal bones and some old trash, some old bottles back from the sixties. But yeah, I think it's probably fair to say when I was down here on Saturday, there was that real sense of hope, there was somewhat excitement. Everybody was up and about. Today fast forward today four and there's probably a sense of you know that this dig's probably coming to a conclusion that we may not find anything here. Guys. I can tell you that MP Frank Pangalo's inbox is absolutely pinging with people that are coming forward with probably a lot of conspiracy theories, some new information as well. There's obviously that rumor that they were buried in a sinkhole in Stansbury. A short time ago there was a car load of people with placards or their supporters of that area pushing that theory. I have to say my inbox has been going nuts. I've had a lot of videos sent to me as well about conspiracy theories that they're buried in the tunnels down a crossroads. So unfortunately, I don't think we're going to have an answer to this terrible cold case that has haunted the name for fifty nine years.
Thank you for that, Jade, great report from the site there this morning. It is fast. It's starting to get that feel about it, isn't it. Yeah. Yeah, the new site, the new dig site didn't yield any results, so they've gone back to the two that the police had previously looked at.
So it goes to something like that holding a placard.
Yeah, it's a fair question.
