But for now it is time to head over to Israel. Ashley mulaney four Channel seven has headed over there from London. She's in the europe heure now. We used to chat to her over in America. She's gone from one extreme side of the world to the other. And Ashley, it is nearly the end of October seven over in Israel. How has the day and night been? Good morning to you.

Good morning guys. Well, it's been a really emotional day in Israel. I must stay and I'm pleased that I could come back here to cover the anniversary because we came over here last year, of course when the attacks happened. And I think it's fair to say that Israel is still just so deeply traumatized by what's happened. You know. You speak to some of the family members of people who were killed in the attacks and they just say it's like a living nightmare. They just feel like they can't wake up from this nightmare. They seem to sort of still have as much pain as what they did a year ago. And I think nothing's really calm down in a sense. They probably not had a chance to even really grieve properly because the country is are worn now on multiple fronts. But yeah, it's been a really emotional day his day. We spent the day the morning out at the start of an over music festival, which you might remember was the scene of this horrific massacre. It was about three hundred and sixty people that were killed there early in the morning when hamas started firing rockets and then they stormed the border. And you know, they've got this in the field set up in the field where they were all dancing that morning. They've got posters now, like portraits of the victims that stand on posts sort of at eye level, so you walk around and you see these faces looking back at you, and you know, just seeing some of the dads of these young you know, lovely young girls who were out partying, and seeing these dads just standing there looking at pictures of their daughters, and I just it was heartbreaking, really heartbreaking this morning.

Has there been much discussion in the last twenty four hours on the anniversary actually about the fact that of the two hundred and fifty odd people who were taken hostage, around one hundred of them are still believe to be alive. And you know, what's the status of those people. You know, is there any chance that Hamas that these terrorists are going to hand them back. Yeah.

There has been a lot of discussion about the hostages today and most days here, but I think it would just be an excruciating way for these families. There's about one hundred and one hostages that are still there. They think that maybe half of them are alive, so they're still keeping the bodies of some of the hostages. But I think it's a really dire situation now because Harmas is badly wounded. They've lost so much of their senior leaders now and from all reports, yeah, Yaya Sinoa is the Hamas leader, is basically surrounded himself by with these hostages. I think it's really terribly sad when you see their faces of some of the you know, of all ages, but there's probably I think there's about eight women that are still there, some of them you know, eighteen year old sold IDs, soldiers they were on guard on the border that day, and you know their parents that are waiting for news about whether they're still alive and whether they'll ever make it home. I mean, just heart wrenching. But Hamas actually put out a video today threatening that if they if Israel doesn't stop its campaign in Gaza, that they might just block off the tunnels where they're being held indefinitely, which is a really really grim and terrible, terrible thought.

And just just finally actually talking to Israelis, do you get the sense that they feel isolated, that they feel like the rest of the world is sort of you know, we saw Macron's comments over the weekend about I'm.

Just gonna I'm so sorry to interrupt you there. I just this is a bucket alarm that's going off in the hotel, which does happen occasionally, but it's the second time today for us that we had a rocket alarm come true for a missile from Yemen earlier.

So I just needed.

To you do what you have to do. We can get out of.

Your head, but it's no, no, we can stay on the phone. That's fine. I'm just going to go over to the camera and droom. Yeah. I mean, it's just a reminder, isn't it, that this is the country's grieving at the moment that there's still is this threat has had rockets fired from Hesbla, from Gaza today, from Yemen too, so it's just it's never ending, and you might be able to repeat that question for me if you don't.

Mind the Well, no, actually, let's talk about what's going on now. So, so you said it's a rocket alarm that they that they've.

Oh god, sorry one second, Jimmy.

Oh, I've just come over to Jimmy's room.

It's books as though.

I don't know if you can hear that boom and rattling in the hotel, but I mean that's much much louder than what it usually is. It must be missile. So Jimmy's room is facing north, so we're looking towards Lebanon, so this must be a rocket attack coming from Hesbla.

Which city you in jury Salem?

Actually I'm in telivision. What could you see, Jimmy. So James Cannon, the cameraman I'm working with, said that from the balcony he could see a whole lot of iron dome interceptions. So yeah, these must you has go our rockets if they're coming from the not But yeah, so just a reminder that this is a skill. You know, active wars on every month. You know, we've got Tesla in the north and Hamas in Gaza. But who he's in Yemen that want to have a crack every now and then as well.

Yeah.

Absolutely, So it's a really really tense time. It is a really tense time here.

How much long is how much we go? We'll let you go. Actually, how much long are you there for?

Though?

So partly, you know, we partly came over here because after a run launch, that's ballistic missile strike, there's been a lot of speculation as to how Israel will respond, So we're waiting to see. Now we've you know, we've been able to mark the anniversary of the October seven attacks, but we'll see how Israel responds to to Iran. And that could just be a really important turning point in this conflict. If we see a head to head war between Israel and Iran, not just with the boxes my case, Blauren and her masks. I mean, that could be a center an entirely favors war and one that could very well drag America into it as well.

Absolutely. Actually, thank you so much for that incredible report, and you stay safe and we'll talk to you again, so you no doubt. Ashley Mulaney for Channel seven in Tel Aviv, Israel, Well.

A little bit of that I feel it's a little bit scared hearing that. For Ashley it's eleven fifteen over there at night just about, so it's been a huge, huge day for Ashley and on the phone with us, so there are iron dome interceptions. Isn't that crazy?
