Today’s episode features a conversation between Morehouse School of Medicine’s President and CEO Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice and Andrew Witty, CEO of UnitedHealth Group, in which the two leaders discuss lessons learned from the pandemic, as well as a shared commitment to improving health care and health equity, particularly in underserved communities.
They also discuss Witty’s unique career in both corporations and academia as well as his role in helping the World Health Organization distribute COVID-19 vaccines, particularly in developing countries.
Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Witty served as CEO of GlaxoSmithKline. He is the former chancellor of the University of Nottingham, a British public research university, and was knighted in 2012 for services to the UK economy.
