The Tampa Bay Lightning head west for the first time this season as they open a three-game road trip tonight against the Vegas Golden Knights. On today's Daily Strike, Steve Versnick previews a marquee matchup between two of the NHL's most successful franchises of the modern era and breaks down the biggest storylines heading into the road trip.

The Lightning enter the game after a perfect 5-0 homestand but are looking to improve on a 1-2 road record. Hear from veteran defenseman John Carlson on what it will take for Tampa Bay to translate its home success into wins away from Benchmark International Arena, while Head Coach Jon Cooper explains why this western swing will be an important test early in the season.

All eyes remain on Nikita Kucherov, who enters the night just four points shy of passing Steven Stamkos as the franchise's all-time leading scorer. Kucherov already has 10 points through eight games this season and carries a seven-game goal streak against Vegas into tonight's showdown.

Meanwhile, Brandon Hagel continues his outstanding start to the season with 11 points in eight games, while the Lightning offense ranks among the league's best, averaging more than 30 shots per game.
