Throughout 2016, a young woman contacted the police more than five times to report that she was being stalked. However, instead of receiving protection, she was fined for harassment by the authorities. In other words, the police believed that she was wasting their time. 

However, a few months later she was found dead in her own bed at home, her throat cut and her body deliberately set on fire. Tragically, she did not receive help in time, and her murder exposed a disturbing pattern of police negligence towards women who report stalking and psychological abuse in England.
