THE trial of Stephen Silver for the murder of Detective Garda Colm Horkan is continuing at the Central Criminal Court where the motorbike mechanic has taken the stand to give evidence in his own defence.

Silver has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Garda Horkan, knowing or being reckless as to whether he was a member of An Garda Siochana, but guilty to his manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility
