The investigation into Nancy Guthrie's disappearance enters its sixth month as an anonymous FBI official says at least three ransom-related letters sent to media outlets are not authentic. The FBI tested the first note by depositing cryptocurrency into the provided wallet address — the funds were never touched. A second note, sent to a local TV station, implied she had died and was “buried with nature.” A third, sent to TMZ in early June, claimed to have video and details of the kidnappers, but the FBI has also determined this was fabricated. Sheriff Chris Nanos has publicly stated he does not believe the new video claim and warned it is another example of fake ransom note activity.
Despite extensive search efforts, Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts and condition remain unknown.
