The attempted murder trial of Maui anesthesiologist, Dr. Gerhardt Konig underway in Honolulu, each side describing O'ahu's Pali Puka trail, but very different stories of what happened there almost exactly a year ago.

Arielle says her husband dragged her toward the cliff’s edge, attempted to inject her with “an unknown substance” using a syringe, and hit her “repeatedly on the head” with a rock.

Konig claims he was NOT trying to kill his wife, and acted in self-defense after Arielle attacked him when he threatened to expose an alleged affair with a married co-worker.

Jurors hear a witnesses' 911 call, watch body-worn camera footage from a responding officer, and see photos of Arielle's brutal injuries. Konig's adult son expected to testify about a video call his father made after the attack that prosecutors are calling a confession. 

Arielle Konig expected to take the stand against her husband this week.
