Daniel Padakowski has now pleaded guilty to second degree murder in several other charges, including tampering with evidence and possession of dangerous drugs. Authority say Padakowski's plea is part of a deal with prosecutors in Coconino County. The plea agreement was reached earlier in the day, shortly before Flagstaff Police held a news conference. Flagstaff Police Chief Sean Connolly noted the rapid progression of the case, highlighting the short time since Kelly Padakowski was first reported missing. The details surrounding the motive for the killing remain unclear, as the plea agreement did not provide any indication. However, Senior Attorney Michael Tunick from the Cocanino County Attorney's Office stated that the fifty eight year old Daniel Padakowski is expected to receive a sixteen year prison sentence without the possibility of parole. The case began when Padakowski called Flagstaff police on the night of June thirtieth, claiming his wife had not returned from a run and swim at Lake mary. Suspicion quickly turned towards Padakowski himself after Kelly's relatives discovered her car across town. By the next morning, the missing person case had escalated to a homicide investigation, ultimately leading to Padakowski's arrest. As part of his plea deal, Padakowski provided critical information about the location of his wife's remains and other evidence, including her cell phone, car keys, and the weapon used in the crime. Friday morning, Flagstaff police recovered Kelly Padakowski's remains, though they have not disclosed the lowcatetionation due to ongoing recovery efforts.
