Karen and Dusty Spencer were married and jointly owned a successful home painting business, A-Plus Painting. Two years into the marriage and business, the relationship sours and disputes about finances become more frequent, turning violent. On December 10 during an argument, Dusty hit and choked Karen, threatening to kill her. Police were called and Dusty Spencer was arrested.
